Just found out that my grandpa died and the funeral is on Wednesday. I would go with my dad, but he is leaving tommorow really early and I've got so many things I need to do tommorow -- tried calling to make arrangements but can't get in touch with anyone.

Airfare is outrageous -- $423 :earseek:

Greyhound looks like my only option as it's $106. I just don't know if I can handle a 20 hour bus trip.

The best would be if my dad were able to pick me up at 11, then it would be fine but I don't know how set he is on leaving.

Yeah I'm pretty sure 20 hours on a bus would get to me. So far I was able to move a few things earlier, now just need to talk to my dad!

Unless the things that you have to do are absolutely MANDATORY, just move them, drop them, extend them, whatever and go with you dad.

I think I would spring for the airline ticket, I have done Greyhopund before and it ain't pretty...

I'm sorry about your loss.

When my Mom passed away, the funeral home did offer assistance in getting bereavement fares. No one needed to use the service so I can't tell you what it cost, but you may want to check to see if they can get you a better rate.

Thanks. We knew it coming, just a matter of when. It's still pretty sad.

Was able to work it out with my dad though, so that's good.

We tried to get a bereavment fare when Dh's grandma passed away. First, it doesn't save you much. Second, there are only a few fares available at that price and they were all sold out. I don't think they were all bereavment fares necessarily I think they were just deeply discounted but not any more than you could find online. Sounds like trying to go with your dad is the best option. Please accept my condolences.

I'm sorry to hear that you have lost your grandfather.
