It was 65 years ago today that the brave men of the Allied Forces of WWII landed enmasse at the beaches at Normandy, France... They along with the fearless troopers of the 101st and 82nd Airborne began the massive offensive to establish a beach head in Europe to end the reign of evil. God Bless those brave men!!!!!!!!!!

) I hope you don't mind a WWII Vet story. My Dad is a retired NYC Detective (Very tough and a little scary but heart of gold type of guy) My DH , my Dad & Mom and I all went to see Private Ryan together. My Dad hurt his back "on the Job" so we were all seated after the show ended so Dad could slowly walk out because he would be stiff from sitting. A group of really scruffy looking teen boys (pants hanging down, earrings, etc) were walking up the aisle joking. One of them walked over to my father and said" Excuse me Sir. Were you in WWII ??" My Dad told him yes. And that his brother got a purple heart for D Day. The kid said " I just want to thank you and tell you how cool I think you guys were." He turned to his friends and told them to say Thank you to my father. The other boys mumbled a quick thanks. And I could hear them teasing the 1st boy and him telling them to shut up that WWII vets were touch and we were lucky we had them. Out of the mouths of Babes . So I huge Thank you to my Dad, Uncle Johnny and the hundreds like them. You truly are the Greatest Generation.
