.

Barb,
I have no sage advice for you. But my heart does ache for you.:( I can only imagine that you are feeling very stir crazy being cooped up in the house for all of these months.

Is there anyone who can come sit with the kids for a day and then another friend or your husband can take you somewhere, anywhere to just sit and relax - whether it's feeding the ducks or just feeling the wind on your face as you drive down the road in your car?

Please know that we are all praying for you and hoping your road to recovery soon resembles the superhighway!

:)

:rose: :flower2: :daisy: :cheer2:

Good ideas Pam! :)

I wish I was closer I would come and help out! you need to get some fresh air!

I do get out ~ to drs appts, to OT, to the store

I just wish I could go anytime, like I used to. I can't just "run to Walmart" with the kids. It's too tiring and difficult. I can't just take the kids to the park. My dd is too hard to chase after. The list just goes on and on....

I'm just frustrated. Everyone else "goes" to do something fun and here I sit. AUGH!!!!!

But, Barb - it sounds as though when you do get out, it's not "you" time - and I can feel your frustration all the way through the monitor!:(

You need some quiet time where you can just sit and watch the squirrels run up the trees and not have to chase your children.

You need something more than going to WalMart and pushing a cart and fighting the crowd. :(

The underlying point is - you want things to be back to normal - and you have every right to hope for and expect that. I only wish I could do something to help you get back to that natural, normal state. I'm so, so sorry.

do i ever feel your pain,, after 9 months the drs are just now letting me start trying to drive and get out asnd work,, i found my way by volenteering my time to make sponsership calls for the local servicw eorganization we help, by planning several sections of the cook off on my own, and taking the responsibilty of gathering and coordinateing the items and ppl needed to make iot work:) i a lso took over all the cooking, gra ted i gained a bit of weight because my family is now spoiled to home made breads and rolls, fresh meals and creative menus,,lol,, no more burger and fries or chops with mashed taters..lol... now they get a better variety and a lot more veggies:) i also statred finding support groups online, finding more things that interested me to research and lewarn about, ( i found a lot of camping opportunities in our state we didnt know existed that we'll be trying as soon as i am able to get out more, ) i have started doing more interior design work, drawing out plans etc for rooms and have started offering my experience to my friends on line as an advice person:) considering starting a homerepair advice board somewhere:)

I've been in your situation 3 times(three operations with long recoveries)
It's a great time to spend a lot of quality time with the kids. They will probably enjoy reading with you at any age. When DS was young I read to him storybooks, then chapter books now we read our own but together in the same room "reading time". Monopoly or any board game is always fun and can take your mind off recovering!
Most of the time I tried to teach DS new things atleast 2 hours a day, this way I felt somewhat useful, if you know what I mean. I tried to just take it day by day and make the best of each.
(I also did a couple of sit-down projects that interested me during the evening).
{HUGS} To You

I was basically 3 1/2 months in bed when I shattered my left leg. My dh, bless him, Loaded me into the car and then into a wheelchair 2 times a week for school, twice a week for church, and twice a week for PT. He also took me to Disney World twice for the weekend as I was going stir crazy at home.
I fortunately did not have children to worry about. They could care for themselves. I just could not put any weight on that leg the entire time and only could get out if someone took me.
At home I read, watched ASL tapes and studied, did crosswords, crocheted several balnkets and played on my computer. Oh and watched a lot of tv.
