Does this budget seem realistic to start saving for? Too much? Maybe even less?

Again, this is for an Escape wedding.

Roughly, this is what I'm shooting for:

-Ceremony at Boardwalk's SBP
-Officiant
-Flowers for two bridesmaids,
-Horse-drawn landau (I know, it's a bit frivolous, but I want it!!)
-Reception at Garden View Tea Room at GF for 20 people (grand tea w/our cake)

**Am I forgetting anything standard I'd have to pay for? We are fine with the cake and music included.

*Also, can we provide our own champagne for our guests for the toast & keep the complimentary bottle for ourselves? Don't want to pay the high prices for extra bottles of theirs if we can just buy something a bit less expensive for everyone ahead of time.

*and is cost of the wedding night stayed in the resort included in the Escape package pricing? I noticed on the website it said 4 night minimum stay-I wondered if any of that cost is covered in the package pricing?

TIA!

how about photography/videography? is that included in the escape package? i'm not sure since i'm doing a custom wedding.

I would say $6000, would be doable, but it would be close. Basic photography is included, the officiant is not. You could save some by doing bridesmaids flowers yourself, even the small bouquets run $75. I opted for the rose wands to save $$, plus it was a little more "magical", I thought. No rooms are included in the Escape/Intimate package, so that expense will be in addition to the wedding.

You have to use Disney's food and beverage service, unfortunately. It isn't a big expense though. We added one bottle of champange (we had 6 adults) and we had a little left over that my hubby and I finished in the limo on the way back to the resort ! For the kids we did Sprite and water. I think the Sprite was $3.25 or $3.75 per person and they drank quite a bit (August wedding), so all in all, it wasn't too out of line.

Hope that helps. If you have any other questions, just ask !

Caryndisneydiva: Good point....yes, the package does comes with photography and I think 20 prints.

.....But actually, now that I think about it, I would love to get those photos right outside Cinderella's Castle-anyone know how much extra that is?

Thank goodness we have time to save up for this-I started out thinking we could just stick to the basics and I'm trying-really I am!! But there are a few "princess-y things" that I feel like we should splurge on since its a once in a lifetime thing!!

We are still a year away from making the actual arrangements so it's hard to find out price ranges for alot of stuff by just searching online.

Cost of reception was easy info to find-I definately want to do the Garden View Afternoon Tea. I don't care if it's not a private event-we'll be pretty low key. I'm only planning 18 people tops and the prices look very reasonable.

I have no idea about flowers. I'd like to find an outside vendor-something simple for my two bridesmaids, rose petals on the table....does Disney supply any flowers at all during the ceremony? Are the ceremony areas completely bare? We are planning SBP at the BW.

SWMHC: What are rose wands? Do you have a pic I could see? I'd actually like to do something with daffodils and white roses for my bouquet.

The horse drawn landau is going to kill me-I think it's around $1700, but it's worth it-purely magical to me!

The Cinderella's castle photos must be amazing! What a beautiful wedding souvineer!!

Geez $6000 budget is starting to look like a pipe dream :scared1:

here are 2 pics of the rose wands that were posted in my pj a few months ago...i'm using them for my bm's as well!

Hi there, we are about a year away from booking anything so in a similar position to you. We are looking at SBP followed by an lunch at the Gardenview Tea Room, and then dinner at Epcot.

I went onto the Disney Weddings site and set up a wish book. You can have a look at the prices of things there.

To give you an idea, there are no florals or decorations at SBP but you can organise them - for a fee of course!

Three pairs of pillars with chiffon were $60 a pair (I think) and floral decorations were $150 for each pillar. That's a lot of $$$!! The floral decorations can be used as table centre pieces but there will only be 8 of us so it seemed a waste. The other option for us is to use an external florist but I haven't looked into that yet.

We were going to go for a Wishes wedding to customise it and could easily have spent the $10,000 minimum. Our budget is around that mark. What would have killed us was the 25 night minimum Disney stay. I've got a friend from the US who will be coming and will stay on site for around 5 days but that still left us with 20 nights and I couldn't ask that everyone else stayed for a few nights. It's going to cost people enough from the UK without asking that of them.

Have fun looking at all the options and planning. It seems a bit daunting but it's good fun!

I did a one-rose wand for my bridesmaids. I am at work so I can't post it right now, but can post more later. Several brides have had rose petals scattered at SBP and that does add some beauty. Quite frankly, I think all of the Escape/Intimate locations are beautiful without having to add to them. We were married at the Yacht Club Gazebo and only added rose petals to our sand ceremony table and some to our cake table. I did upgrade my bouquet for $75.00, but it was worth it ! You can also bring your own floral in.

Magic Kindgom bridal shoots are $1000 and $1200 for 2008 pricing. I think it was well worth the $$ for us. I don't think anything else screams "We got married at WDW) quite like bridal portraits in front of the castle with no one else around !!

Basic photography is included and I think it is still 20 prints in an album. You may check on the status of whether or not you get your other proofs with that or not. It has been known to change. You can purchase the master CD of all your Disney wedding pictures (MK bridal shoot, honeymoon shoot if you do one, and your ceremony) for $1000. We went with outside photography as we felt we could get more for our money. But I also didn't know about the master CD for $1000 with all your high res proofs. That may have swayed my decision at the time. We used Chapman Photography and couldn't be happier. Randy took over 800 pictures and we have the master cd (not to mention HE IS AWESOME).

So that should give you a few more things to think about. Good luck !

Where did you get the 1200 for the mk session? I was quoted 1000 for our sept 08 wedding and then 1300 for the 2 park option

The $1,200 is if you want 5x7 prints instead of 4x6.

OP, you sound like me! We really wanted to do an Escape wedding with extras, and our sales coordinator kept trying to talk us into a Wishes wedding, but we didn't want to be upsold. Finally we had to acknowledge that, with all the extra stuff we wanted, it made more sense to spend the extra $$ for a Wishes wedding and get more service and more choice.

But I am living proof that you can have a Wishes wedding for the bare minimum (well, OK, $70 over the minimums - hee hee!) ;)

Oh thank god for that!!! I thought it was going to be more money!!

Thanks everyone-ughh so much to think about!

I opted for Escape instead of Wishes because:
a) We can barely afford the bare minimum anyways! &
b) I know this sounds aweful but I want it done and over with quickly! I've never been one for center of attention and I want something small. Small intimate ceremony and low key reception

...my only problem is I want these princess-y extras like the MK photos & the horse drawn landau. I guess if I had to choose between the two, I would pick the MK photo shoot....but the horse drawn carriage sounds so magical!!

I"m hoping my parents will pay for the Garden View Tea reception (around $650 maybe?) so that will save a ton. No way will they pitch in for the MK photos or horse drawn carriage-they will think those are too frivolous...of course those are the most expensive parts!!

I love the rose wands! They are very sweet-and around how much $$ do those run? and how much $$ do the strewn rose petals cost?

Just out of curiosity-what's with the 25 night minimum stay for Wishes?? am I missing something here? That sounds ridiculous!!

Another question-my parents are FL residents-can they use the DDE towards the cost of the Garden View Tea reception?

and could we use their discounts for anything else? Hotel maybe?

I dont mean to complain here, but the increase in pricing between 2007 & 2008 is aweful!! They added on so much more $$ and is it just because of the AP? We could have done without the AP to save some money....not like we'll be traveling too soon afterwards until we get the wedding all paid off! Oh well, it's worth every penny for a once in a lifetime magical day:bride:

**Hey Caryndisneydiva: what are those pretty little white flowers in your bouquet? I dont mean the roses-those little ones in between?

& are those from Disney florist or outside vendor?

I hear ya! I was so mad when they raised the prices to cover the "free" APs, and then some! It made an Escape Wedding that much closer in cost to a Wishes wedding for us, so we took the plunge (which may be why they did it!).

Yes, you can use a Disney Dining Experience card at Gardenview Tearoom, and you can use any discount you get your hands on for the hotel rooms (even AP discounts - just exchange the vouchers for APs when you get to WDW).

Re: bouquet, there is one in the Escape Wedding Wishbook that looks a lot like the one you like on the main page. It's called a Mixed Hand-Tied Bouquet.

HTH :thumbsup2

Thanks Lurkyloo!

So we can use the discount from AP's included in the package towards our hotel stay for the wedding? Ok, that might help a bit-AP discounts are supposed to be pretty good....and I would love to stay at the BWI which is usually pricey.

I'm thinking now maybe I'll get rid of one frivolous extra-downsize the horse drawn landau to the Model Ford for only $600 (instead of the $1700 for the horse carriage). I know I'm sounding spoiled, but I just dont like limos. I wont back down on those MK photos though!!

Is the AP the only addition to the 2008 Escape package?

You know, if you like BWI, why don't you look into renting DVC points to stay at BoardWalk Villas? We're saving $$$ by staying at Beach Club Villas and Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas on our honeymoon.

I hate limos too! The Model A would be cool. Besides, you can ride in a horse-drawn carriage in any tourist town in the country!

The AP is the only thing they added - oh wait, now there are two 30-minute phone consultations. As if you couldn't phone them before...

Thanks for justifying the downgrade to the Model Ford Lurkyloo-I'm feeling better about it. I would love to have both the horse drawn carriage and the MK photos, but until we win the lottery, I guess I have to pick one!

and those MK photos seem priceless!!

Renting points-do you mean renting from a Dis DVC member from these boards? We thought about that for the BW villas, but we werent sure if WDW counted that towards the stay requirements since we were renting from a private member-??

I would actually prefer only one 30 minute phone call and the rest over email!!
I tend to have an easier time making decisions if its over email-too much pressure to fit everything in live over the phone!
