We decided to do fewer sit -down meals this next trip- only planned 4 for our 8 night trip and it looks like it will cost a ton. I'm having a little sticker shock :crazy2:

I hear ya! I had CRT and Wishes booked for the same night and figured out my dining for the day was going to be more than the park tickets!!! Crazy!!

New Year's Eve at California Grill is $600 per person.

I think it went up even higher this past NYE. Definitely not my cup of tea, but for those with money to burn, I'm sure they had a good time.

For how many people? $600 is $150 per meal so for four people thats not a huge amount, but it also depends on which restaurants and the quality of the food.

2 adults, 2 thirteen year olds. Eating at Boma, San Angel, Sci Fi, BOG~

Boma is our favorite! We are limiting to only one night there- we would eat there every day!

If I am wanting to do a quick calculation, I guesstimate $30pp for table service and $15pp for counter service. Some are more or less, but that seems to average out pretty well.

I try not to think about it. It seems to be working so far!
We did a 3 night adults trip last week...I don't want to think about what we spent on food. I thought about it beforehand, purchased Disney gift cards at Target and forgot about prices.
It seemed like every meal for 2 people (even with TiW) was around $100 (except for breakfast at Crystal Palace which was like 60). I think Ohana (with no alcohol) was over $80 for two people...and while it was a lot of food...I can get a lot of quality food from one of my favorite restaurants for $75-80 (enough to tip the take out person and feed my family of 5 for one meal)
ETA: Now we know why DDP is so popular

That's 16 meals. That averages out to about $37.50 per meal. I don't think that's out of line for a dinner. If you were doing an a la carte instead of a dinner buffet, it would be less.

We were going to eat dinner at Cape May last April, we are a family of 4, both kids being counted as adults. It was $59.00 pp not including tip and taxes and drinks! We were looking at a bill probably over $300! Even in the Disney bubble, that was too much for us.

You're so right! Went to 'Ohana a couple nights ago - just Dh & I and the bill with taxes and tip over $100. :crazy2:

We usually spend around $1000 for three people during our stays. If you're worried about the cost, maybe look at the appetizers. You might find one or more person would prefer an appetizers to a large entree. I like to order appetizers myself, not so much because of the price, though they are cheaper, but more because the entrees are too large for me to eat.

We're looking at just a tad below $500 for CRT lunch next trip. Last trip the three adults in our party dropped about $300 for dinner at Citricos (and it was worth it.) You don't have to spend a fortune on food at WDW, but it sure is easy to do. :earsboy:

Unfortunately , "Boma" was one of the restaurants that we had to remove from our "must-do rotation"
We love it, but got two pricey ---- we are 2 adults, and dd9 and ds4--- I mean, it's a buffet, but how much can the little ones eat !!??? Last time we went, the bill was crazy !! Tried "Teppan Edo" instead, and it's now an absolute must !!!
