Did anyone see 60 Minutes tonight? They spoke with the author of the biography of Steve Jobs. It was amazing how many stories he shared. It sounds like a good read. The other story was on Autism and the IPad. How it is being used for communication.

Tonights stories were fabulous!:surfweb:

My school district purchased several iPads for the special education department this year. I think it's great how technology can assist those who have communication difficulties.

I saw most of it. The autism story was amazing. I loved seeing the first "kid" ordering his own breakfast. How cool must it be for him to finally be able to do that after 27 years?!?! And the kid they thought had the intellect of a toddler who knew all kinds of words and loved opera. Very cool stuff.

I watched. It was a good segment on Steve Jobs. I didn't know he tried alternate treatment so early on, I thought it was later. I wonder if he had the first operation when he was first diagnosed..........

The autism story was amazing, to give someone with autism a voice is an incredible legacy.

We watched the segments and they were great. I think it was a really interesting look at Jobs...he sure was a multi-faceted character. Timely up until the end with the release of the book tomorrow.

The Autism section with the iPad was truly amazing and it is just awesome to see what children can do with these machines. I'm a 2011 graduate in Special Education and in my last student teaching placement brought my own iPod Touch and iPad device into the classroom and let the students explore and it was just a blessing to be able to give these students a tool that helped them to communicate and express their knowledge! My mentor teacher used the data I collected to write a grant and was able to purchase 3 iPad for her classroom.

I'm currently on a research team at my old University to develop a science based app and I just got my first job as an Intervention Specialist this past friday. The superintendent who interviewed me introduced me to the head of the special education department for the city schools because of the work I was able to do with the iPads. I can't wait to bring this technology to more students! It truly is wonderful!

Thank you Steve Jobs!
