This is trip #10 for us, but has been 2 years and my memory is getting a bit fuzzy lol
We are a family of 8- and usually split into 4 people around approx same time and “usually” works, realizing no guarantee
First question remind me how I can book two reservations around same time? Do I need to have our 2nd room linked and booked thru someone else’s name in that room?
Second question the system automatically will know we are staying on property and all available dates will be shaded blue?
Third online opens at 6am eastern, will start checking at 530. Is the phone app the way to go or thru the site on a browser? Or really just a crap shoot lol
Lastly start with last night and work back? We’re staying dec 27-Jan 2nd so not entirely hopeful of our chances at some but who knows lol.
Thanks for any and all help…: greatly appreciate it!!!

To answer your first question, it won't matter whether your 2nd room is linked or not. The important thing would be that the person you designate to manage the ADR for the first group of 4 is another member of the party, not you, so that when you book the ADR for the 2nd group of 4 you'll be allowed to overlap with the first ADR.

As for your other questions, the answers are generally yep! you got it!

We also travel with a family of 8, so I know your planning pains!

1. User above did a great job answering this question, so I will defer and concur.
2. If you're staying on property and it's one reservation (i.e. not a split stay), the system will know and you'll see all of the available dates (10 days max) for booking.
3. I've preferred using the browser for booking and have made sure to either clear my cookies, or used incognito mode. I've encountered quite few cookie issues when using Chrome and not clearing it out.
4. I've always worked backwards with the hardest reservations on the last day/furthest out.

Thank you both so very much! But I’m still a bit confused about how to designate someone on the second room (staying in that room are our 3 older kids) I know I had to do it before but I am drawing a complete blank. Any further help with that is so very appreciated!!

You don't have to designate someone who is staying in that room to "manage" the ADR, although you could. Just designate someone who is a member of your party (could be your spouse, if you want) and is linked to you in MDE. Your resort reservation opens up your 60+length of stay window, but after that your resort reservation has nothing to do with booking ADRs. You don't even need to list all the guests on each ADR - you just need to designate someone to "manage" it.

And when it's time to eat, make sure everyone is there about 10-15 minutes before the earlier ADR time, check in with the CM, not via MDE, and tell the CM you're together and would like to sit as close together as possible. They'll do their best to put you together. If you're separated, it doesn't matter who sits at which table, either, just seat the eight people in your party the way you want.

Ok don’t hate me lol but one last question, how do I designate someone? Is there a button to push or what am I missing. I’m really sorry, it’s been a long day lol

I guess what I mean- my 24 year old daughter is listed on our other room but when she logs into her Disney app the reservation isn’t showing so I don’t think she would be allowed to make the reservations beyond 60 days. So I’m trying to figure out how to get the ones in that other room have the reservation show up so they can make them :)
If I have totally confused you, apologies…: I’ve confused myself ;)

When you’re almost finished making the ADR, there will be a question “who’s managing this reservation?” or something to that effect. It will default to your name, but you just click there and then click someone in your F&F list who will be in your party of 8.

Your daughter doesn’t actually have to make the ADR. You can book it, just click her name when you make the first one.

As far as the resort room reservation not showing, is she listed as a guest in that room? When you reserved the room, you should have listed everyone who will stay in that room by clicking their names in your F&F list. If the reservation didn’t automatically link to MDE, you need to give her the confirmation number for that room, so she can enter it into her MDE account (under Link a Reservation).

Oops, just realized I forgot which forum I was on. Hopefully you won’t read it before I make corrections and remove references to DVC!:guilty::o

Ahhhhh ok so as long as I’m allowed to manage other plans then I just click on their name (I manage for my younger two so could technically make in their name?) all names are listed under my app but for some reason it’s not letting me add them under the friends and family list
I’m gonna try having her link
Thanks!!!

If they’re listed in your app, they’re on your F&F list. If your daughter has her own MDE account, she should still be on your app under F&F and you should have the box checked for her to share plans with her.

Carolyn thank you SO much for answering my questions…. You saved me from waiting 173 minutes on Disney’s tech line
It says I manage all the plans so I will just select one of their names for the second 4 top table tomorrow…
Fingers crossed

In case you need a refresher, I took a quick screenshot of what my page looks like after clicking on a dining time:

Check before 5:30; some days it opened at 5:30 (Space220) and the site crashed by 5:34

I would also save a credit card to the profile or have it saved on an iPad to auto fill and have the process go faster. The app crashes and sometimes you have to log in on different devices, check email for code and keep refreshing.

If you get an error while booking on the payment screen, you can refresh and back to the payment screen (if you see Donald and no access, refresh and go back and it should go back to the payment screen). It took me over 25 mins to book an after dessert party mid day (saw an opening).

book your must do’s at the end of the trip and first; eg Oga’s, Ohana, Be our Guest (we could only get Ohana on day 5; Oga had no availability but reservations were dropped at a different time). Space220 is also very difficult to get. Steakhouse 71 was ok.

Select one of their names for the FIRST 4 top you book tomorrow. If you leave yourself as the person managing the first reservation, the ADR system will not let you look for another 4 top for the same date, time, and restaurant.

Ok thank you all so so very much!!!! I’m not sure why this time feels different but it does so I really appreciate it!!!
Do I have to put the names of the other guests or just the one that is the initial/head person

You don’t have to put in any other names. If they have their own MDE, the ADR will show there, but if they don’t have their own MDE it won’t matter.

Any luck yet? Nothing showing up for me. I know they typically release times at 5:45. So far nothing for my dining window. Though I can see the days on the calendar.
