6 yo with a broken foot

I would look into using a larger size stroller rather than renting a WDW stroller as it will be more comfortable for your dd and easier for you to push. You may want it for use around the resort as well as the airport!

If you know someone who has a peg perego, maclaren or other high end stroller perhaps you can borrow it. You can use it all through the airport and just gate check it at the door of the airplane. Especially since you are traveling as the solo adult the airport can be alot of walking and this could be a lifesaver.

If not try abbf.com and see if they have something that would accomodate your dd.

Visit the DisAbilities board for advice on a GAC. Bring along any doctors information to assist you in getting the pass. It will not get you to the head of the line but it can make other necessary accomodations such as allowing you to use the stroller as a wheelchair and take it in line.

Have a great trip. (I love traveling with my kids alone as you can see by my tag!)

I would def. bring a towel or other item to cushion your DD even though she will be able to do some walking. Casts can get heavy and she'll probably want to still ride. Make the best of the cast though and turn it into a keepsake! Bring a good Sharpie and HAVE FUN!! (You'll just want to ask the Dr. where the cast will have to be cut when it's removed and mark out that area so you don't lose any signatures.)

I second the waterproof cast. :sunny:

My dd(7) broke her arm 10 days before our trip last August!! The ER doc said to make sure to get a waterproof cast and our first ortho doc didn't want to do it. I went to see another doctor...one that has kids!!!! No problem. He made sure her thumb was ok and that she could still hold on tight to the RNRRC bars. It did not slow us down and being Aug. she was in the pool every afternoon and evening!! Made showering much easier too!!

My other DD(4) dislocated her hip a few years back and spent the whole summer in a body cast (both ankles to arm-pits). We found the stroller to maneuver much easier at the zoo, parks and malls. We tried the wheel chair but it was just too bulky and harder to get into places. We really went everywhere with the stroller.

Good Luck and don't cancel your trip. The characters really poured it on for my dd(7) and she still has her cast with all the signatures.

Oh yeah---one thing. Have the cast person draw a line or mark where they will cut off the cast so the characters don't sign where they will be cutting. It really made for a great souvinier!!!
