6 years behind, changing formats?

I've been scrapbooking for 11 years. I have so many projects and ideas I want to do but now I have fallen to about 6 years behind.

Each of my girls have chronological books. I've just completed my younger daughter's 2nd book (I just fill up a CM album and end when it gets to a good break and is comfortably full). I ended the year 2006, so it was a good ending to the album.

But, paper scrapbooking is time-consuming for me plus with CM's downfall, I am unsure if I will be able to get similar styled albums for future use (although I do have some on hand).

Recently, I completed 2 books on Mixbook.com with their pre-formatted choices (which can be customized, which I did utilize). I am very pleased with the results (one was my wedding album and one was a recent trip album).

I'm considering switching to this type of scrapbooking but would it look awkward for my girls to have chronological albums of different types?

All my photo albums from my childhood are different sizes and I guess I don't care, I am more happy with my mom preserving my childhood than anything else.

Have any of you switched your album styles? Do you regret the decision? Or are you happy you are just keeping up to date?

I feel you.

I switched from CM to post bound a few years ago, when CM changed formats.

I've just switched again to We R Memory Keepers albums with their pocket pages. I've done loads of pages that way and have gotten lots caught up. I have 1 more book to get caught up to 2010. But I'm out of pages at the moment.

I also plan to do some digital scrapping 12x12 layouts to mix in with my pocket pages, that way I can just print 5 of the same layout. One for everyone's book. :)

I am going to take all my pages out of my post bound albums and place them in the bigger wrmk albums as soon as I can get some more. I'm not sure my kids will care that much about the style difference so much as where they are going to store them.

I have also been making the switch from standard 12x12 to Project Life - pocket pages and cards. I have found it to be quicker but still creative as well.

Personally, I say don't worry about it. First of all, isn't it most important to get those memories recorded, no matter what the format?

Second.... scrapping styles and techniques change. I'm sure that you have evolved as a scrapper, right? You wouldn't force yourself to stick to the styles, tools, and such that you started with on day one.

So IMHO it is FINE to change formats if that is what will make YOU happy and will get the scrapping done.

My Mom is NOT a scrapper, but she started doing Shutterfly books of our family vacations about 6 years ago. It seems that every year she creates a book with a different "flair" and even different size format. But you know what.... the kids (and adults) still LOVE them! Would it be easier to store them all on the same shelf if they were the same size??? SURE ;) But I'm not going to complain! The books show her creativity and love and helps us remember all of those special vacations together and that is what counts!

ENJOY your scrapping!..................P
