Hi , I ordered my 6 week body make over program from Provida life on July 4th . It came last night and looks pretty simple . You answer some questions and the answers tell you what body type you are then you customize the plan to that body type and they actually give all you need to customize it and 18 minute body sculpting routine to help target your problem areas - Only bad thing i can see is i will be eating lots of protien, not too much carbs ( and NO BREAD or Pasta at all for my body type for the 6 weeks ) some fruits - but not the high sugar kind like apples oranges watermelon or grapes - but grapefruit, cantelope honeydew and small amounts of pineapple . and LOTS of veggies .. OH and I don't get any dairy ! I have switch to Tea if i can't have creamer in my coffee.

If anyone has done this program can you let me know - and I will post how its going on this board . I will not be starting till Monday 7/21/03

Thanks Michelle

My DH and I did this last fall. We each lost 25# in 9 weeks. I averaged 3 # each week. I think it's a pretty good program I didn't feel hungry - loved the high amount of protein. Which body type are you? I really loved the exercise system - really enjoyed the workouts and how easy they were to follow. I'd still be doing them, but I have a shoulder problem which makes it impossible to use the resistance bands right now.

I liked that the plan was nutritionally well balanced and I was never hungry, also that it included targeted exercise for each person's specific problem spots. I drank coffee thruout following the program w/ just a tiny splash of skim milk.

We are doing Atkins right now, however because my DH was never happy with how restrictive it was. I have considered going back to it because I lost much more quickly on it than I have on Atkins.

PM me if you have any specific questions.

Good luck,

Karyn

I hope you will keep us updated about this program! It sounds very interesting! I usually watch the infomercial while I am working out with my weights (I find all the before and after pictures inspiring!) I have been very interested in hearing from a "real" person about this.

You know you can do it! Don't think of the things you "can't" eat and just focus on enjoying what is allowed. You know that if you stick with the program you will have a different body at the end of 6 weeks!!!! I'm sure it will pay off big time!

I eat more protein then I used to, I don't really eat bread or pasta anymore (just brown rice or multi grain cereal or a whole grain bagel or a small portion of potato). I eat lots of steamed veggies and some fruits in moderation. It really didn't take a whole lot of time to adjust to this and I feel full, but not overstuffed. My tummy is happy digesting these foods (not so happy if I have junk food) and my body is really shaping up.

I wish you luck with the program! Please post updates often, and don't be afraid to post if you feel like you want to eat something that isn't on the program, we will help you out as much as we can! :)

Kabuli1 - Hi that is great I am hoping to lose 20 lbs in the first 6 then continue till I hit my goal which is 60 with luck by X-Mas. I am a body type B . Instead of the 30-45 mins of Cardio I am still going to go to Curves as I have a year memebership that is being paid for 3-4 times a week then will do the 18 minute routine the other 2 days and have at least one day of rest ! If i have any other ? or concers I will Pm you !

TigH - Thanks for the encourageng and Kind words ! I am very tired of the way I feel and its been creeping on for Years but this is my time to change all that , to quote Dr. Phil - its going to be a chaning day in MY life - I know I will have some Slips and am giving myself some permission for special occasions during the rest of the year .

Thanks again both of you .. I will keep you all posted.. Michelle

Michelle,

The only caveat I can give you right now is to not expect the results they promise. It is a good basic low fat, low sugar, complex carb, high protein diet. It really is not a miracle program. I stuck with it absolutely faithfully and in the first 6 weeks lost 16 lbs. I went back and checked my results from last year - I'd lost 5 before I started so I actually lost 20 in 9 weeks.

It is a hard program to stick with for the long term because it is very restrictive. The only reason I'm tempted to go back to it is that my weight loss was very consistant, I didn't plateau while I was doing it AND (this is important) I only need to take off about 25 more so I am looking at a reasonable time frame. For life-long living there is no question that I will go back to Atkins whatever I do in the meantime.

Stick with Curves - it's a great program andyou get alot of support being with all those other women. You will enjoy the 18 minute workout - tho I never finished it in under 30-35 minutes! I always did it while watching Ground Force or Changing Rooms on BBCAmerica!

I'll be happy to be your PM buddy on this if you need me!

Hi Barb - Thanks , how's your summer going ?? Good I hope . Getting ready for your cruise this fall ? I bet you can't wait..

Hi Karyn, Thanks for more insight - I don't too well on non- restrictive type plans - while I always know how and what to do I seem overload ( like WW - while I have all the tools I still have trouble ) so I am hoping that this will change and i can lose the weight and then work on keeping it off. I also get the Depo shot and that may interfere with the loss as well so while I am not expecting to lose like they did on Tv I do expect to lose something ( I have an appointment at the end of Aug - which is my last of the 6 weeks - and am going to see about switching back to the pill if i am having trouble losing ) I will Pm if i need to - Thanks for your support ! Michelle

BigSis-
I have no first hand advice on the program, but my big sis went on it, she has a lot to lose, she has lost 45 pounds since April. Two weeks in June she was off the program because of moving and such. She says it is very good, she has not exercised yet. She is more restrictive than I am on Atkins. Although she does get more fruit than me. I still haven't gone into any fruit. Also, she has gotten very anemic on the program. Let me also add, she has VERY TOUGH periods, the doctor thinks she was borderline before starting the program and without any red meat or vitamins, it pushed her over the edge. She goes off her program on Sundays as a free day, which she says is part of their ongoing maintenance program. She is trying to find an iron supplement that won't make her sick. Anyway, I truly believe anything you believe in is the way to go. Nobody is the same, we all have different experiences!! Find what works and RUN with it!!
Best of luck!!

Beastlover - Great for you sister on her loss ! ( and yours - which i assume you have had some on Atkins ) I can have 1-2oz of red meat type C - very lean burger/ steak at dinner time . I have having a hard time thinking of all the chicken/ turkery/ egg whites that I will consuming - I figured that for breakfast - without being able to eat Bread / muffins or bagels that egg whites are my only option for breakfast and mid am snack so that is 25 yes you read it 25 egg whites !!! I do like hard boil eggs so that is what I will be eating !! Well I am up for a challenge and need to do this for myself . Thanks Michelle

I'm not sure if this will help you or not, but we have egg white omelettes for breakfast every day. I love them!!!! If you can have mushrooms and green pepper, you can sautee them in some PAM first and then whip up your egg whites and cook them, then add the sauteed veggies and make an omelette out of it. Or use chopped green onions for some flavor. That's just an idea if you are able to eat those things too. I hated egg white only omelettes when I first tried them (years ago) so we just worked on cutting back the yolks when I'd cook eggs. Now if I get a yolk into my eggs accidentally I am mad! ;) Hopefully your tastebuds will adjust quickly!

For the red meat, could you use bison/buffalo? We just got some last week for the first time from Whole Foods. It was a pound of frozen ground bison. I made burgers from it and it was GREAT. Not gamey tasting at all! They aren't greasy like regular burgers can be (actually DH grilled them a little too long so mine was almost on the dry side). We are going to have them again this Friday night. They were so yummy! I felt like I was having a hearty burger, but the fat content is so low for bison, and the protein is pretty high. :)

Good luck! I just bet you will really enjoy this plan!

Michelle,

I did what TigH is talking about I added salsa or my breakfast meat or mushrooms and onions and herbs to my egg white omlettes. I'm a type E and I got mostly red meat and occasionally chicken on my plan. Which I loved - steak for breakfast w/ 1/2 cup of oatmeal and a 1/2 cup of frozen mixed berries.

I'll be happy to give you more specifics - just pm me!

Hi Michelle,

Okay first - get yourself a WISH clippie! - Second I have tried the 6week make over(illegally took info from a friend of mine) It was good but I couldn't stick to it:( - But my friend lost 22lbs and never gained it back (approx 18months now).

I like WW - but the sneaky thing about WW is to get the most out of your points you actually do eat a lot less carbs and less high sugar/fat items - but you can eat what ever you want - I think with me its mind over matter - as long as know one says I can't have something I don't crave it - but the minute I am told "NO" I want that item - I need to be able to choose whatever I want. As far as exercise goes I am using the FIRM - The new 3 DVD set with the "sculpting stick" - I love these DVDs!!!

Bottom line you have to be on the plan you can do for life - not any on plan is right for everyone.

I am so glad to see you on the WISH boards - This board is so supportive and filled with encouragement and inspiration - You are sure to be a "LOSER" in no time!

SUE
