6 parks in a day--can we do it?

To me it would not be fun, it would be a waste of $ and time.

I doubt I would be up for it. Why do people try to climb Mt Everest? (the REAL one not the one at AK) To say they did. I guess if one had a private jet it would be totally doable but trying to navigate airports.....yuck

We're going to do WDW/DL in a week this October! Going to WDW for Food and Wine and MNSSHP for 3 nights, then flying to SNA, and doing DL for 4 nights! We have premier passports and wanted to get one last shebang out of them!

Thanks to all my supporters--I knew I'd find company here on the DIS! The planning is coming alone nicely, and I think we're going to be able to try to tackle this adventure.

Of course, overnight the price of the flight that had us arriving at LAX at 7:00 went up by $60 a person. But then I found an even better flight that gets us into LAX at 5:30 that was even cheaper than the first flight. Because as Brenda1966 points out, the biggest issue is the limited number of midday flights from Orlando to L.A. on any airline.

We're starting to book some flights and hotels, and I'm thinking about starting that PTR....

What about if you could fly into SNA or LGB instead of LAX - save lots of time in transit and navigating the airport...

I think it sounds kooky - but fun!

Good luck with the flights! You know the price often goes up on the weekends and then back down on Tuesday/Wednesday.
I don't think there are any direct MCO to SNA flights, which is unfortunate.
Please report back as you plan and complete your adventure so we can live vicariously throught you!

We're toying with the idea of trying to visit all 6 WDW and DL parks in one day this summer.

I'm definitely impressed by your idea. Absolutely go for it! And as others here have posted, you shouldn't have any problems entering DCA first with a closing time of 10p, then hopping over to DL.

The west coast portion is actually the easy part, since all that separates the two parks is the esplanade. And I know many others have done MK to DL in a day, but I haven't heard of anyone try all 4 WDW parks before flying to DLR. For me, the east coast section sounds more challenging, but I'm guessing you have a pretty good plan for that. Are you taking advantage of an EMH day to get an early start in one of the parks?

P.S. While entering Disneyland today, the family behind me had just arrived from Japan. They were in Tokyo Disneyland that morning and were getting to Disneyland right at noon. Although the distance is much greater, the logistics of Tokyo Disneyland-and-Disneyland in one day are quite easy due to the international date line. I hadn't thought about trying that two-parks-in-one-day challenge until speaking with this family. Disney fans are pretty amazing.

There are DIS members who have ridden four (?) attractions at the Magic Kingdom and then ridden those same attractions at Disneyland on the same day. (Their goal was to ride the same ride in both Parks on the same day, but did a few extras at MK just in case a closure or whatnot prevented them from riding the same attraction a DL).

There are people who have participated in "One More Disney Day" at both MK and DL on February 29th.

And other variations thereof. It is definitely do-able. The key is your arrival time at DLR. Select your flight and your transport from the airport to DLR carefully. The other issue you need to consider is your luggage and picking a day that is not likely to be a day on which DL reaches capacity and stops allowing entrance.

Wow, just watched that video and that is crazy! I would be completely exhausted by the end of that day. It looks like as long as the flight was on time that its doable, though. Good luck!

Wasn't she amazing? We thought about trying to do rides, but between having to walk back to an attraction in each park and dealing with the lines (10 days after Carsland opening, no less) we figured we'd have better luck just getting a photo in each park. Dh wants to take all the photos and put them together to commemorate the day.

Our premier passports expiring at the end of summer is what got us going on this idea. We knew we wanted to visit both parks this summer, and since we live so far away from both, it's cheaper to do a 3-way trip than two separate round-trips. We have to have a travel day anyway, so why not try to make it fun? It'll be exhausting for sure (travel days always are), but the memories will be priceless.

So jealous that you get to do your trip in October! F&WF and MNSSHP is my favorite time of year at WDW! Are you going to try to do a Halloween party at DL, too?

We looked into flying into SNA, but Brenda is right--there are no direct flights (at least on our airline) and no decent flight times. Too bad--I'd much rather fly into the smaller, closer to DL airport!

Funny--my dh has been reminding me about Tuesday usually being the cheapest day to fly. And sure enough, that's when we're flying from MCO to LAX! Thanks for all the support and suggestions!

We did think about what that leap day couple attempted--riding the "sister" attractions at the MK and DL, but were concerned about lines and how our youngest would hold up with that much walking. So sad that their attempt was thwarted by a technicality (DL closing due to capacity...for hours!) and hope we don't fall victim to the same fate. Whatever happens, it will be fun to try!

We've made some reservations, so I thought I'd post a quick update. Right now, we're looking at Tuesday, June 26 as THE DAY. Our flight departs MCO at 2:10 pm and arrives at LAX at 5:30 pm. We were originally looking at a later flight, but that one not only went way up in price, but required a plane change. This flight not only gets us into LAX earlier, but no plane change required! So barring any delays or other circumstances beyond our control, we should have no trouble at all visiting both CA and CL that night.

Of course, this means we have to leave Orlando earlier, so it puts us in a bit of a time crunch there. We're planning on taking ME back to the airport, so I'm guessing that will pick us up at our resort (probably Pop Century) around 11:15 am. Since all 4 parks open at 9:00 that morning, and there are no AM EMH's scheduled for that day. But I did manage to get an 8:10 am Crystal Palace ADR, so we're going to try to get in the park as early as possible, get our castle picture, and fuel up quickly for the day ahead. After MK, we'll head to Epcot, then DHS and finally AK before heading back to Pop to catch ME to MCO.

We'll be at WDW for about a week before the 26th, and at DL for 3 or 4 days after to relax and enjoy the parks. At the end of our DL stay, we're going to try something else we've never done--we're going to take the Coast Starlight Amtrak train all the way home to WA. Dh, dd and I took the Empire Builder to Montana 13 years ago, and really enjoyed it. The views around Glacier park were stunning, but I hear the Coast Starlight has some of the best views of any Amtrak route so we're very excited.

We visited all 6 parks in WDW and DL in one day! It was exhausting, but fun, and the kids held up remarkably well. What an adventure.

We had t-shirts made at DTD Design a Tee, which meant we had to come up with a "name" for our odyssey and choose a picture for the shirts. Since we made the trek on 6/26, we decided on "Experiment 6/26" above a picture of Stitch and "6 parks, 1 day" below Stitch. We got more comments on and questions about those shirts, and we look forward to wearing them with pride for many years to come.
