ok dh tells me to rent a scooter. I am just concerned that I would be putting too much on him to care for the two kiddos, the older one would be fine but the youngest one really really needs to be monitored carefully and I think if the scooter was with us he would be distracted. what do you all think?

Hmm... well, either you can be on the scooter and he can be in charge of the care of two small kids with special needs OR you can not be on the scooter and he can be in charge of the care of two small kids with special needs AND trying to take care of a stubborn preganant lady. ;)

Let the nice man take care of you a little. He's better off worried about two than three. :)

I'd also suggest a stroller for the youngest child. You could get a Guest Assistance Card to use the stroller as a wheelchair if that would help her to be more in control.
There is more information about Guest Assistance Cards in the disABILITIES FAQs thread. There is also a small picture of the park rental strollers in the same thread. A lot of children with autism like those strollers because they are made of a firm plastic and have nice high sides and a canopy.

Also, just being 6 months pregnant doesn't necessarily mean you will need an ECV unless you have other medical problems. Even if you do rent an ECV, a lot of people use the ECV to get from one general area to the next and then walk around a bit. That might work better for you than having it all the time.

I see that your son has Asbergers, so he is also on the autism spectrum. You might consider renting a double stroller for both of them, since a stroller can be a good place for autistic children to relax and calm down in their own space.

Rent a scooter from outside the park for the length of stay. If you were to walk then you would be tired before lunch time and it is not good on the fetus to have a stressed out and tired mom. I agee that a double stroller would be best and getting a Gac for yourself and for your kid to use the stroller in line.

You would not have to use the scooter all the time like in Fantasyland you could park it and walk around with the kids. Let hubby do the rock n roll coaster and Tower of Terror while you park and shop. It took me a while to realize that I could park and do shops instead of plowing through shops, lol.

Have fun.

my dad had a ECV and the kids loved to stand on it with him bewteen his legs and drive.

This is something that should not be done. It is unsafe! All that needs to happen is the child push on the control lever and you have several hundred pounds out of control to hit someone or a wall.

If someone renting a WDW park ECV is seen doing that, the ECV can be confiscated because it is dangerous both for the child (who could fall off) and for other guests.

The rental contracts for both the park ECVs and the off-site rental companies specify that there will be only one person on the ECV (the driver). The park ECVs and most of the off-site companies also specify that no one under the age of 18 will be on/driving the ECV.

If the ECV is someone's personal property, they can do whatever they want, but security may still stop them in the parks if they see a child on the ECV. I have seen that and have also seen a child who was sitting on the grandparent's lap when the ECv got out of control. The child had been sitting quietly, but something attracted his attention and he pointed at it, hitting the grandparent's hand, which made the ECV veer off track. Luckily, no one was hurt, but could have been.

You rent a scooter when needed, and get them a double stroller. You tell them they don't have to ride in the stroller, but they will want to!
