No that is not concierge. Concierge on the cruise @21stamps is referencing run around 30-50K.

Its hard for me to compare since opening day prices are long gone however I can say that when the DCL release came out for November 2016 I did a comparison on the cruise I wanted to RCCL, which is why I ended up booking with RCCL. The opening day rate for the fantasy was almost $2000 more than the Oasis was and the Oasis was 8 nights compared to the Fantasys 7 nights. I don't have a history of checking the different rates as I always just booked DCL and never shopped around. I'm waiting for October 2017 to come out for the Fantasy. Royal has had these dates out for some time and even have some 2018 out. Right now we are booked on the Oasis for a b2b at a cost of $5650 Canadain, about $4248 U.S.. I can't imagine I will even get one week on the Fantasy for that but I will wait and see. One never knows.

NP. I'm not trying to get into arguments with others. I can understand why others say they will switch. My wife and I are both 59 and the young adult/older kids activities on the other cruise lines do not appeal to us. Also the prices of the luxury cruise lines do not appeal to us. DCL fits us pretty good.

That's funny because I am looking at the DCL site (several weeks after release date, I should add). A Cat 5A room for that sailing is $6596.76 right now. That price is for two people.

I just took that screen shot, so if you can tell me where I can find a cat 5a at $6596 then I will happily cancel my MSC booking!

I'm sorry but there is no way you are seeing 6597.76 for 2 passengers in a Cat. 5A for the 2017 Iceland or Northern Europe itineraries.

No that's a 7 night. I'm talking about the 11 night Iceland/Norwegian Fjords. On MSC it is Coppenhagen, UK, Iceland. A little different- but Iceland is our main reason for going, and I'm fine with UK or the Fjords.

That's the only way I think they will sell. I have no desire to have a GTY, so we'll see how MSC is in a better category for less price. I'm looking at 2017, not '16.. But I'm sure they will offer a GTY next year as well..I just can't imagine how many people will really pay the full price. Some will sure, but not enough.. I could be wrong though.

Well people, I think the long and short of it is if your happy paying DCL prices and see the value, enjoy! I opened my eyes and no longer see the value, its just not there for me. With everything DCL has taken away over the past few years and with the huge increases in fares, I have moved on.
I like the look of the RCCL ships. The adult only areas look amazing! The pools look so much bigger and nicer. More choices in restaurants. I like the drink packages, no more surprises. They have characters, they have character parades (DCL should do that). They just seem to have more over all. And at half the price, no question I'm going to try other lines.

Not saying I will never be back to DCL, maybe I will. I am saying it will be a while. With so much out there its time to try other things.

We've traveled to Europe at least once a year since 2010. All of our European cruises have been on other cruise lines. We did not miss not being on Disney at all. The itineraries were port intensive with few sea days. We were off the ship for an average of 8 hrs at each port. When we got back in the evening, we would go to dinner, review the next days plan maybe go to show but usually early to bed to be ready for another full touring day. With the about 50% savings from sailing with someone other than the mouse we booked some fantastic private tours for our family of 5 and pre/post cruise stays.

We are planning on doing 4 nights in Coppenhagen as well, will do several excursions, all within a budget MUCH less than what DCL would have taken up- and I'm confident that it will be an amazing trip.

I'm not downing DCL at all, I haven't even experienced one yet! We have our Western Caribbean Very Merrytime Cruise this coming November on the Fantasy, and I could easily justify that for the Christmas themed experience for a 6 year old. We may very well fall in love with DCL, but I've traveled enough to know how far my $ can go- without at all having a "low budget" vacation experience, and $13k for 2 people on a cruise would never even be a consideration for me...I just wasn't expecting that. I know that I wasted over 2 months of my life constantly checking for said pricing to be released lol

My youngest daughter was 7 when we first took the girls to Europe. The cruise was perfect for her. Private drivers and guides were worth every penny. Gave us the flexibility to tailor our day to the needs and whims of our daughters.

We also love DCL, we are platinum cruisers and have sailed DCL since 2000. But for our family, port intensive cruises are all about the ports and we just didn't see the value (for us) of paying a Disney premium for what is basically a floating hotel. We are concierge cruisers so it's not that we can't afford those prices it's that we choose to get more out of our money.

We are leaving in a few weeks for a 10 night Eastern Med cruise from Barcelona to Athens similar to an itinerary DCL had until they altered it. We will be doing 3 nights pre-cruise in Barcelona, all private drivers and guides during our port days, post cruise stay in Athens and then a week at a beach resort in Mykonos. DCL's (2016)12 night Med would have been 26k for our family 5. The itineraries are not even going to Greece any more. Our whole trip (26 days) with business class air is a bit less than that. It could end up being more because I have 3 daughters who LOVE to shop!! Even so, I'm still getting a lot more than just a the cruise for about the same amount of money.
