6 Dine-in Theatres to open at DTD

sounds a little weird to me..
i'm wondering how it's possible to not disturb the other viewers...

it will be interesting to see..

we have VIP theatres here, where there is gourmet food - but you eat before the movie and then you can take certain things into the theatre with you, where you have this special big leather reclining lounge chair to sit in (with little table and drink holder) ....but there aren't any waiters walking in and out during the movie..

Liking the sound of your VIP theatres!

We've given up going to the cinema in the UK. Too many people who don't know how to behave properly!

[I hadn't spotted this thread when I started my own, so I've merged the two.]

I've always wondered why cinemas don't do this. Sounds fab.

We've given up going to the cinema in the UK. Too many people who don't know how to behave properly!

the behavior at movies has actually gotten much better here...the regular theatres too..
probably because it's so expensive to see a movie, it sort of weeds out the misbehavers.....it costs about £5 for a regular ticket, and that's pretty expensive given the average wage...
and then add on the really expensive popcorn and soft drinks...

i wonder how much the tickets will be at the new disney dine in theatres ...

i wonder if they'll look like the sci-fi dine in theatre at DHS, but with real movies instead of those little trailers....
with that giant screen.....
that might really be fun!!!

so it sounds like you can see a movie in the vip theatres just for the price of entrance....there's no requirement to buy food in addition.....at least that's how i'm reading it...
if that's true, then it's a great bargain for such comfortable chairs..

how many people are in the theatre?

I like the look of it too, am definately going to give it a try in November :)

Gosh £5 per ticket, ours our £8.50 :(

£7 here or £9.10 for 3D.

Don't go often but when we do we try to go wednesday before 5pm, they do a discount & Orange Wednesday gets BOGOF, Matt gets a small student discount meaning we all 3 get in for £11.60 instead of £19.60 after 5pm.

It look like a really fun night out :dance3:

We've already planned to go and see the new Pirates movie there.

Think it'll be nice to combine dinner, drinks and a movie all in one place.

I will report back after my trip with all the gossip, especially the noise levels :cheer2:

Strange idea - I go to the cinema to watch the film not to have a meal. Can't see how you would be able to concentrate on the film if you are eating and servers are wondering around to other diners. Plus the lighting would need to be lighter so you can see what your eating!

Much prefer to have a nice meal before or after seegin the film :)

I dislike anyone around me opening a sweet packet or knocking my chair in a cinema so I just can't imagine serving meals and drink in there.:confused3

Now if it was a restaurant with the film on free I might try it but its 1 or the other for me, film or meal not both together.

Back in 1996 we went to the local cinema in Marathon to see Twister. Bought the usual Coke and a hotdog and where seated at a table with 2 chairs and ate the hotdog while watching the film. It was a strange experience like being at home with a TV dinner!!

Me too!

That's part of the reason we stopped going.

People using their mobile phones and talking to each other in loud voices also seemed to be a regular occurance too.

We've had to walk out and ask for our money back due to other people's inconsiderate behaviour at least once.

:sad2:

thanks for the link to the pictures!
that just looks totally weird in my opinion!!!!
that means people are going to be munching throughout the movie?
and rattling papers and whatnot...
i think it would drive me mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not something I will do The smell of the food will put me off watching the movie but Im sure others will love it :)

Karen always says I am not good at multi tasking, I think with this I would either make a mess with the food or totally lose track of the film.:rotfl2:

It does sound weird, but i think we might give it a try. Food and films are 2 of my fave things :rotfl2: so i'll see how we get on :)
