6 and 3 year old at Yachtsman?

What are your opinions? Never eaten at Yachtsman and just don’t know if it suitable for kiddos at dinner time.

You'll find families with young children at YSH mostly during the earlier dinner hours. Typically later in the evening its predominantly (not exclusively) adults. Well behaved children are welcome there and there is a children's menu.

I would say children are welcomed at any signature on property. It *is* Disneyworld after all. Yachtsman can be relatively loud for a signature so it's probably easier to bring young children there.

We took our 9 and 6 year old to Artist Point and Narcoossees last week. The servers were very attentive to their needs and offered things that weren't on the childrens menu.

I think that YSH is fine with young ones. I think it is less chaotic than some other Disney restaurants and has space between the tables.

I think it depends on the children. I have seen some wonderfully behaved children at signature dining locations. I have also seen some that were awful. You could tell they were exhausted from being at the park all day! I always made sure my daughter had a good break from the park before going to dinner.

We took our son to YSH when he was 6 and it was fine. The waiter was very attentive to him and he is now 18 and still talks about his dinner then even though we have been back several times. Go for it!

That and the timeing. My DGD was used to dining out and was able to handle a relaxed meal, however I think it might be a nightmare for children who are used to fast casual dinners. Or if the meals are scheduled later than they are normally used to eating.

If they can manage, I think sime of the signature restaurants actually offer a respite for kids. They are not highly themed, and are not so distracting as some of teh "normal" disney restaurants. WE always had a coloring book or something for DGD if she wanted to take a step back from the rest of us.

My coworker took her three hooligans, and no matter how many times we tried to suggest she take them out beforehand to just practice their table manners, as well as time spent sitting fairly still. She did nto and the kids really struggled, and if I made a guess, their dinner mates every evening did as well.

Other than V&A, when our kids were young, they went to all the restaurants with us regular or Signature. We found as long as we ate early and had plenty of things to keep them busy, things went well. Nobody expects the kids to be silent. But if they aren't running all over the restaurant ( watched this happen at California Grill, the kids running all over the restaurant while mom and dad ate and made no effort to mkae the kids behave), nobody is going to care. You expect to see kids at restaurants at WDW.

Most of the times we have had meals ruined has been by adults. California Grill- I cannot recall what college it was, but there was a large group of older alumni that stood in a group drunkenly singing their college song. Over. and. Over. Another time at Spoodles, a large group was getting up to leave and crowded around the tables. One guy was actually sitting on our table as he chatted! One of the women saw my face and asked snottily if my husband was bothering her. "YES--his a-- is is in our bread basket. '
If you're paying the money for CG or Yachtsman, even though it's Disney people of any age need to act appropriately. It's expected of little children, but we wouldn't have taken ours to a pricy restaurant at 3 because they were awful at the time. One memorable lunch was at Beaches and Cream. We had intended to pick up take out but they had just stopped offering that so we had no choice but to be seated. We were in a booth and we sat each side blocking them in but they were climbing under the table and behaving atrociously no matter how hard we cajoled. Fastest meal we ever ate and while completely stressed out. The older couple across from us glared and finally moved to put their backs to us. No way we could have done Yachtsman at that age! A year later, yes.

I wouldn't have taken our kids to Yachtsman at that age out of respect for our fellow diners. Folks are paying a lot of money to dine at a Disney signature, and often are celebrating a special occasion (anniversary, birthday, etc.). The Yachtsman is more subdued and adult oriented than many other Disney restaurants. Our kids weren't terrible at that age, but they were easily distracted after an hour or so, and I fear their behavior would probably become distracting to others in this type of atmosphere.

There is one section that is very open w lots of glass windows and hardwood floors the sound just seems to bounce off everything

Then there are little booths w padded seats tucked into corners. We had an anniversary dinner in one of those seats. One of our best meals at Disney ever. I fell in love w the onion peel rolls. Omg! So good! I got extra to go w my steak doggie back. Got a salad at BC marketplace next day, had my steak w it and rolls. So darn good! That was a great much lived trip

It's both, really. It is loud relative to a lot of other sigs (save CG), but the ambiance is also subdued. For the kids, not much there. We prefer CG or Sanaa for example, when we have the whole family with us. More to interest them.
