6/8 Minisode - Top 5 Worst Restaurants at WDW

Can't you play it in your car via YouTube and just listen to it rather than watch it?

It's not very long which I can see why they don't put it on iTunes or whatever. I just think short things like this aren't worth it to put on iTunes for them. I also don't see it being that hard to take 5-10 minutes or whatever the length of the video is to watch it for that little bit of time. I don't know that's just me everyone is different.
Yes, I could play YouTube in the car because I happen to have unlimited data on my plan. Otherwise no, because it'd burn through my data super fast. However, playing video does run down the battery pretty quickly so it's kind of a waste when I'm not even watching.

Sure, this video might only be a few minutes, but they're pumping out hours and hours of content. I miss virtually all of it because it's video only. I'd get to enjoy a lot more of it if I could listen to the audio feed.

What do you mean when you say it isn't worth it for them to put stuff like this on iTunes? I don't really know how that works. Is there a cost to them for doing that?

I don't think there is a cost but 5 minutes of audio on the iTunes feed just doesn't seem worth it to me. As for the battery issue you could get a charger for your car and plug it in while you listen to is on YouTube. I don't know 5-10 minute audio feeds on iTunes don't seem worth it which is why I don't think they do it.

The files on iTunes play automatically one after the other, so I could start them when I got into the car and then listen to however many there are or until I reached my destination. If I start a 5-minute YouTube video, there's nothing to do when it ends since I'd be driving. I couldn't go searching for another.

I believe there is a way to play another video automatically on YouTube. I know it does it on my Apple TV.

I'll have to check into that. That would be helpful especially if there's some way to create a playlist so I know what's going to play next.

A lot of the DIS content is fine without the video but some of it really doesn't make much sense to just listen to.

I really, really, really wish they would release all of these things as podcasts. There is nothing about this that warrants it being video vs. audio. I miss so much of the new content because they only release it as videos and I really only "consume" their content in the car.

You've mentioned this several times before, but the direction for the podcast is more video productions now. In reality, many big podcasts have gone this route and continue to grow. It has completely transformed the show and content being put out...in a fantastic way.

Maybe it's time to start viewing some of it at home or during a lunch break? It's just like watching TV and can be even be done using a television via a system connected to the Internet. I don't think it is really fair to say something should be audio only just because you like to listen in the car. Try video!! You'll like it!

The Disunplugged going video is how I discovered the podcast. Who knows if I would've found it otherwise and then who knows if I would even be on the disboards!

I definitely believe that video is the most important content being produced right now. Video is the future of the podcast, and I think that it's the best way for the audience to continue to grow. It's 2016, and videos go viral. Audio doesn't usually go viral. Plus, I love being able to see the team.

That said ... I happen to have time to watch the video podcasts (usually live). Even if I'm a little busy, I can almost always find the time to sit down in front of a video for an hour. Not everyone has that luxury. Some people are very busy and really only have time to consume this content during their commute, and watching videos while driving is not a smart idea (although for public transit commuters, video is a possibility). Personally, I don't think that everything needs to be released as audio, but I do know that some people hate missing out on content because they don't have the time or opportunity to watch videos.

I think that until we have self-driving cars and more hours in the day, there will always be an audio-only audience. Whether or not all content should be released via audio is the team's decision, not mine, but ... I see both sides of the argument.

True true. I tend to watch check the show at night or even over the weekends because of my schedule. I do like the YouTube in the car option mentioned for those who prefer audio. Good suggestion.

I like to listen in the car. I like to listen when I'm out running. I sometimes like to listen while I'm in the house doing other things like earlier today when I listened to DIS Pop while cleaning the basement. Of course, in that case I could have just as well been playing a video and not watching so it doesn't matter in those situations. But 95% of my DIS time is in the car.

As for doing it instead of watching TV, I watch very, very little TV, maybe a few hours per week. I'm not the typical American watching 5 hours per day. And we have Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Apple TV, so I'm all wired up to watch it all. I'm just not the type to sit and stare at a screen for extended periods unless I'm actively doing something (like posting to this forum).

To be clear, I'm not suggesting that they go back to audio-only. That would be silly. I just wish they'd release the audio feed along with the video. I realize that I'm in a shrinking minority though.

I mostly stick to video, but I often have old episodes running in the background while I'm doing something else. If I'm working on the computer, it's easy to have YouTube or the DIS Unplugged website open in another window. But if I'm cleaning or doing something active ... audio is definitely easier. So I'm definitely glad that at least some of the content is released via audio.

I understand both sides. I think a lot of the content is enhanced by video. But I also know that sometimes video isn't practical, and I understand that it can be disappointing to miss out on something because it's more difficult for you to consume content on that platform.

I'm 100% with you on this one Steve.
Using YouTube in the car is not practical due to using data, and I work long hours with little time for tv watching, maybe an hour a night after doing all the things I need to do.

Would I LIKE to watch everything that they're producing? Absolutely. Is it practical FOR ME? No
Lucky we're all entitled to our opinions right?

Exactly. To be honest, I don't even get to listen to all of the audio content. I'm months behind on the Universal show (sorry Craig). I think I missed all of the last round of Connecting with Walt. And I'm only 2 episodes in on DIS Pop. Although I do listen in the car, I don't have a long commute so it takes me a couple of days to hear each show.

If the show is any shorter than 50-55 mins, I have to listen to the start of another show. Lol

Opinions are different than facts, but yes, I love a good civil discussion with others, when they're capable of such things.

Not sure what that is about. Back on topic with this thread.

I was happy to find this minisode today. Thanks for providing your insight and I look forward to more content like this.
