6/7/11 - It's a double dip DREAM!

Joan, thanks for the spreadsheet. My DD-Beth will also be going with my DGD and I.

We will be staying at POFQ and getting in on the 2nd so we can take advantage of free dining. The calendar isn't posted yet so I don't know which parks/which days but maybe we could have a meet somewhere on property Mon sometime.

This will be our 1st Disney Cruise!!:cool1:

(Mom went on carnival cruise 2/10 with co-workers) Dad and Daughter have never been on a cruise.

We live in New Jersey

Dad-Bob 41
Mom-Diane 40
Daughter-Haley 11 (she will turn 12 on the cruise 6/11)

Main Dining

please add us on the spreadsheet

Melissa, how cool is that, we live in Kettering, OH, which is actually a suburb of Dayton!! :D Just thougth I'd say... :D

Question - did any of you book a GTY room and if so have you gotten you room assignment? My mom noticed today that she has her's, but neither my sister nor I have gotten ours. And our reservations are all linked together. :confused3 Just curious.

Kelly,:)
We have a GTY room and everyone else in our party who booked an inside stateroom has a GTY for their room number as well. We have members in our party in verandah cabins but they already have an assigned stateroom.

I have a feeling Disney might have overbooked the lower cats and might UPGRADE!!!!(Fingers crossed!!!) :thumbsup2

The sucky part of GTY though is not knowing where you'll be on the ship. We might get a room number in a few months or when we check in at the port. As an obsessive planner, this is personally going to bug me.:rolleyes1:rotfl: Here's hoping for a good spot on the boat!:beach:

Well, see, that's just it. I'm disappointed, because we are all booked 11B GTY and that's exactly what my mom got - 11B! I'm not complaining, we are after all, getting what we paid for, but I too was hoping for even just a little bump! And even though they haven't assigned me yet, seeing as we're all connected, I'm sure I will get 11B, too. I just thought it was very weird that they assigned one of us and not all of us.

Did your mother book at the same time as you, or did you both book around the same time? I was asking because I booked a friend's cabin a couple of weeks ago, and I believe he DID recieve a room number, although he had the same Cat as us.....we booked all the way back in Feb...so maybe the timing had something to do with it?:confused3

I don't know, that's really strange. I'd call DCL and ask about it if I were you.

Okay, I'm already starting to think about excursions. From what I've read so far about Nassau is not good. I'm also reading that Atlantis is VERY expensive. I'm considering not getting off the ship at all.

Anyone given this any thought yet?

Joan

Atlantis can be expensive. The trick is to not book the excursion.

If you book a room at the neighboring hotel, the Comfort Suites, your group (depending on how large) can get in for a fraction of the cost. You get all the amenities of Atlantis, including the water park.

We did this last January, and it was easy as pie. The hotel knows if you've booked a night, you're more than likely a cruise passenger. They give you a paper ticket, and you just walk over to one of the towel booths at Atlantis, and you get the bracelet for access.

While the Atlantis excursion can be upwards of $300 a person, we only paid $150 (with taxes!) for two people. A room, I believe, houses up to four people, so you can get four people into Atlantis for $150!

It was great (though a bit chilly). Lots of fun. I'd highly recommend it if you want to check out Atlantis.

Now, if you don't want to pay anything, you can still walk the grounds, visit their casino, and look at the various aquariums for free.

One year we got off and walked to the pirate museum. It was OK and we at least could say we got off the boat. Second time we did the dolphin encounter and we loved it. This time we're staying on the boat. :)

I'd say there will be A LOT of people staying on the boat! I'm tossing around the idea of renting a room at Comfort Suites, although I've said that twice before and never went through with it, but this time just may be different! ;)

I think it's worth it at least once. We talked about doing it this time around but I think we'll save that money for parasailing (maybe this time it won't be too windy).

This will be our 3rd Disney Cruise that we've been on. The previous 2 both went to Nassau, and I have to say that I don't think we'll be getting off this time. First time was our honeymoon and as Jennifer said, it's worth it to at least do it once just to look around. Last time, in 2008, we brought my inlaws along and it was their first. They had fun walking the shops and looking through the straw market, but in my opinion if you don't really intend to buy anything there really isn't a whole lot right off the boat. With this being our first sailing on the Dream for probably some time, I know i'll be hanging out on the boat trying to get a few extra rides on the Aquaduck, if the wife and inlaws want to get off i won't stop them!! haha...

We're doing a self-guided walking tour - but mostly because my brother's family has never been to Nassau (actually, for almost his whole family, it's their first time out of the country!). He has girls, so we'll make a stop at Del Sol for the fingernail polish and swing by the straw market. But then it will most likely be back to the ship for more pool time.

It looks like we will be joining in the fun! This will be our 3rd DCL cruise. It will be myself, DH, DD8, DD5.

We are going to attempt to surprise our kids with this cruise. We'll see if I can hold out that long!!

I would highly recommend parasailing at CC. My daughter and I LOVED it!

We've thought about doing that, but in 4 DCL cruises, have never succeeded. Oh well...anticipation and looking forward to the cruise is part of the fun! :)

We're in the same boat (no bun intended)... We wanted to keep our NYE trip to WDW this year a secret, but telling the kids has helped build the excitement that we're less than 60 days away from being at WDW!! :) And for the cruise I've been able to share with them pictures of the ship and new kids clubs to build their excitement. :)
