6/4/09 Wonder 3 Night

Doing the doc dance here!!! We just received our luggage tags and document booklet today!!

NOW I have something to look forward to this week (or maybe next week?)! Unless it doesn't come at all and then I will be sad and very scared. Being a newbie, I'm not sure how these things work or how long it takes for Disney mail to get to the Midwest.

I did the doc dance last Thursday ... sorta, kinda. What we received was only a "Disney's Magical Express" booklet which has our transport vouchers from port to resort on June 7th. We are flying into FL the evening before the cruise and staying at the Hyatt MCO. Do you know if we get our ME tags for luggage transport to the Wonder when we check in at the Hyatt?

P.S. My father was in the Navy, and we were stationed in Jacksonville and Pensacola in the early '70s. Is Weston close by?

I'M flying into MCO the day before and also staying at the Hyatt. How cool is that? Maybe I will see you guys before the cruise even starts, in the lobby of the Hyatt or on the DCL bus that morning? So I take it you guys haven't received your other cruise documents either? If I remember correctly from what I have read or heard, I think we will receive tags to put on our luggage in the mail with our cruise documents but don't actually put them on until we are ready to check out of the Hyatt that morning and transfer to DCL. There is a time our luggage has to be put outside our door at the Hyatt but I don't remember when? 30 more days!

I am excited! No documents as of now...

I am counting paycheck days.. this Friday, one in between and then the last one I will get while we are vacationing ... I am going to work extra hard during that pay period.

We are supposed to arrive at MCO on Wed at 5:20p coming from Atlanta. Hopefully we won't have any long flight delays, so we can get a good night's rest before we start the cruise.

We will probably just drive up the morning of the cruise since it is only 3 hours, though we may change our mind.

If you do not get your docs by Friday, I would suggest calling Disney. You should all have the docs this week.

Can you write me a check? I double checked the docs I received last week. They are for the land portion of our trip. So I don't think any of us have our docs except your family. You know, the family that just booked this trip and lives the closest. Send some pixie dust our way please.

Are you doing WDW after the cruise? We are going just before. But since I planned late, I didn't get any ADRs until recently. I have been going crazy, calling every day, trying to get the ADRs I want, hoping for cancellations. Can't decide yet on DDP. Have you had any luck on ADRs?

The travel kit does not say much...we strongly recommend the Passporter guide as it is the closest thing to a bible for Disney cruises...the 2009 edition recently came out (and Lisa promptly ordered a copy). I believe the website is passporter.com or something similar. The book evaluates and rates the restaurants, all the shore excursions, etc...and can even tell you which cabins to avoid and why, though much of cabin location tends to be personal preference...ie we have always preferred deck 6 or 5 Starboard aft in large part b/c it is generally a very peaceful place in the ship, but again that is personal preference.

Not sure why we are the only ones w/docs and being in Florida is NOT the reason as there have been times where we were near to the ;ast to receive docs.

Go to www.ups.com. Click on Track by Reference. Under Shipment Reference enter your ressie #. For the Ship Date Range, I entered 5/5/09 to 5/9/09. Click on Track at the bottom of the screen. Voila! You will have info about your cruise docs.

Yup, we are doing 7 days at WDW after the cruise and have the basic dining plan. I booked dinner at Chef Mickeys at my 180 day mark and the rest of the ressies at my 90 day mark, so I was able to get my choices at the times I wanted. My goal this trip was for us to eat at new places other than our room or the GF Cafe. I booked Crystal Palace, Kona Cafe, Mama Melrose's and Whispering Canyon. I've read good and bad about these restaurants, but at this point I'm not willing to change anything.

From the threads I've read here, it seems that persistence does pay off. Good luck with your ADRs.

Hmmm Whispering Canyon....ask for Ketchup, or a large ice tea...or maybe some crayons...or perhaps its someone's birthday?....

I dont think my sister-in-law has ever been back there after we took her on her birthday (and she usually has at least a seasonal pass)....
