We are flying with Sunwing out of terminal 1 at pearson on a Sunday at 6:30am and was wondering what time we should get to the airport, has anyone had any experience with this? I don't know what I was thinking when I booked these flights.

That is how we travelled last time. We got there at 3:00 am and the windows I don't think were open yet but there were a few people in line already. Wasn't that long of a line up though.

I thought we would be going through customs in Toronto as it was a direct flight and they said no, we would go through in Orlando.

I thought we would be going through customs in Toronto, we always have with westjet...I guess we will just play the wait and see game.

I have flown Sunwing before and Skyservice and we did customs at MCO. But when i fly Westjet or Aircanada we do customs at YYZ. I thought charters didn't do customs at YYZ?

you will go through US customs at Pearson...

Actually, most charter airlines (of which Sunwing is one) do not utilize US pre-clearance at Pearson.

With a 6:30am flight, this might not be a bad thing! The pre-clearance lines can be brutal at that time of the morning.

I have to say, and maybe all my flights have been the exception for some reason, but I have flown Sunwing and Westjet to MCO many times and always cleared US Customs at at YYZ.

This has allowed us to go straight from the arrival gate to the Disney Welcome Centre for the Magical Express.

WJ is not a charter airline.

Sunwing may be an exception to the charter airlines - as I said *most* of the charter flights don't go through pre-clearance at Peason. I know that Air Transat doesn't (or didn't the times that I flew them). Sunwing does fly out of T1 whereas Air Transat, Canjet, and Thomas Cook all fly out of T3, which may make a difference.

We flew Air Transat (flight was run by Air Transat itself -- not Canjet) and we cleared US customs in Toronto. This was in February 2010.

I know when i flew sunwung last year I couldn't believe how little of a security screnning there was and how I didn;t clear customs til we reached MCO. That's where we had the real security check and the customs interview.

When Canada 3000 was still in business they were one of the other charter airlines and we still cleared US Customs in Orlando each time we flew with them out of Toronto. Also the last time we flew with them they were located in Terminal 3, so the other airlines mentioned by crashbb didn't matter at the time when Canada 3000 was still open.

I think the excpetion to this charter airline rule is Air Transat because the two times we flew with them to Orlando International Airport and the other time to St. Petersburg - Clearwater International Airport, we cleared US Customs in Toronto.

Hi I just noticed on the AC website that my 630 AM flight to Orlando in December is now leaving at 7 Am. I wonder when they were going to tell me!

I don't think they were going to let you know, it's up to you to check for small changes to your flights. They'll let you know of any major changes, ie more than 2 hours.

Oh well, 30 min. more to sleep that day! Still, 4:00 a.m.--oh, the humanity!

Really? Air Canada has always sent me emails about any change - including changes of 5 minutes. Once or twice I found out about the change by checking the website first, but I have always got an email (or phone call).

I think AC just made a number of changes (they tend to do so every quarter), so the emails may be making their way through the system.

I noticed they changed the flight number too. I can't pull up my reservations online either.

The flight number I am on doesn't show up in the timetable and my premiem reserved seats were on that flight.

So I guess I am calling AC.
