6/29/15 Magic to Norway & Iceland

Not far from Clifton. I grew up on Long Island, lived in 3 other states and another country before coming back to northern NJ. Love being so close to the city!

Been on vacation in WDW so haven't been around here, once back on Tuesday I'll post more. Leaving on Magic tomorrow

I posted this info on FB but wanted to share with those who are not on FB:

I have a friend in Iceland and asked her about tours. This is her blog....
http://www.guidetoiceland.is/talk-to-locals/article/regina/the-golden-circle-tour-in-iceland

This is the inexpensive tour ($85pp) she wrote about...
http://www.guidetoiceland.is/tour/category/golden-circle/the-golden-circle-classic-tour

She also recommends this one - it's a 9-seater van that costs about $88 per person...
http://viptours.is/

I am hoping that since we arrive early afternoon the first day and since there is so much daylight that all the tour companies will be doing tours such as 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Guess I will write to a couple and see what they say. I think most people would like to do the Golden Circle - which at 8 hours long wouldn't make me comfortable doing it the second day....when we sail at 4:45 p.m.

Wow! I've never joined a meet so far before a cruise, and also never joined one with this much activity already! :-)

I booked this cruise while on the Fantasy on 4/1 or 4/2, I don't really keep track of days on cruises. We still may back out, but the more I'm researching the more I'm talking myself into this one. We have invited MIL as well, but don't know that she'll jump on. We are booked in a 4A GTY.

It is me (Nathan), DW (Amanda), DD10 and DS 2 (ages at time of cruise).

As of now, this will be our 12th cruise (3rd DCL), though we might squeeze another one in between now and then.

First time going to Europe at all, hoping to extend this vaca both before and after and see more of the area.

Where you are from: Currently Cincinnati, OH
Who you are going with: Wife and kids (DD10, DS2)
Favorite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to): Southern Caribbean cruise or New England driving trip
If you were a Disney character which one would you be? Me: Meeko - I'll have to get back to you for the rest of the family

:welcome: aboard Nathan! Glad to see you made it to the FB group too. You will find most of the chatter is over there :goodvibes

Good night Disboards peeps! There is only one thing that makes me happy about Mondays these days! Looking forward to Terrie's countdown post!!!!

Thanks for this! I may join the FB group later, but for now I'm keeping to the DIS. (Nothing against FB ... Just figure I would be too tempted to keep checking in!)

GOOD MORNING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS! WE SET SAIL IN 63 WEEKS! THAT IS 441 DAYS!

I work in the Bronx near the #4 train (which stops at Yankee Stadium). We actually have a (very) small season ticket package. My kids got to run around the bases last summer!

Amanda

We lived in Parkchester before moving 'upstate". My dad worked in the courthouse right behind the stadium. We are going up in June for a wedding so we have tickets for the Yankee/Redsox game on the 29th!!!

That's too cool! I went to medical school at Albert Einstein College of Medicine so I lived in the Bronx for 4 years.

So excited, I booked this cruise last week for my family (I know late compared to some). It will be myself, DH, DD(8). We had planned on doing ABD but my husband saw this and said we should book. Booked while husband was in the mood. Cant wait to see other posts.

:welcome: aboard! 99% of the chit chat is on the Face Book group as most seem to prefer getting to know on another and sharing info there. It is a closed group and only the other FB members of the cruise group can see your posts or even know that you belong to the group. I will continue to post pertinent cruise/port information shared over there on page one as well as any group activities which are already being planned :lmao: Speaking of which, there are a few things I do need to update on page one later this evening :thumbsup2

Just as a heads up, I believe your friends (and others depending on your privacy settings) are able to see that you are in a closed group, they just can't see any posts from within that group. So if someone is trying to surprise a spouse or kids with this cruise, know that they would be able to see that you're a member of this group.

In order to completely hide a group, it needs to be 'secret'. But it's too difficult to add new people to a secret group, as you need to already be friends with someone in the group.

This is one of those frustrating things about Facebook that doesn't make much sense... :confused3

Where you are from: St. Louis, MO

Who you are going with: DH Mark (38), Ivy (38) and DD Janet (11)

Favourite travel (ie fave disney cruise or the best place you have travelled to) Our first Disney cruise is our favorite; Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy during Thanksgiving

If you were a Disney character which one would you be? Mulan

Currently working on a flight strategy. I probably spend as much time on flyertalk and the pointsguy as I do on the Disboards. So excited about this cruise!

Good to know thanks for clarifying.

That makes 2 of us. Travel hacking is a hobby for me too. I also like View from the Wing and Frequent Miler among other Boarding Area bloggers.

Make that 3 of us! ;) I frequent Million Mile Secrets, Mommypoints, and milevalue mostly, but have a number of other ones in my feed. Since I started hanging out on flyertalk I usually get the information there first anymore.

Well I changed our reservation from the cash deposit to DVC points so we are locked in!:yay:
I realize there are lots of opinions on using DVC points to cruise we choose to use ours for cruises. We broke even on DVC costs about 5 years ago so if the cost of the cruise is more than than the annual fees assocated with the points it is a great deal. Also the insurance through DVC is $89 a use year! Much less than DCL insurance costs.

Cool! :cool1:

Don't feel you have to justify your use of DVC points... I know some places on these boards you do... :rolleyes1 It's pretty amazing to me how many strong opinions you see on what someone does with their own DVC points.

It must feel great to have this cruise paid for... :)

Nice! We haven't used our points for cruises yet but that doesn't mean we never will.

Oh tell me about it :rolleyes1 We are Florida residents and have 1100 points bought both direct and resale. DVC is still a great value for us and the way we vacation.

We did the same thing for our upcoming Alaska Cruise. We were not going to use the points and really wanted to return to Alaska.
