You can go to the Adventures by Disney website (adventuresbydisney.com) and see all of the excursions. The ABD is an all of nothing thing; you take the entire itinerary of excursions for the cruise. You then call DCL to book it (or your travel agent).

Although the title suggests banning from canals it's you read it the proposal is to ban from the Lagoon.

My thoughts on this:
First: the Daily Mail is not the most accurate newspaper around
Keep that in mind when reading this article.
The Grand Canal is by far not Grand enough to accommodate any large cruise-ship. Therefor they are not allowed there anyway.

Second: I don't understand what a (very tragic!) accident between a vaparetto and a gondola has to do with passing cruise ships.

Third: I really hope this won't be a problem for the cruise we are so eagerly looking forward to
It will be our first ever cruise

I think the link with the gondola is a spurious one. We cruised on the Magic out of Barcelona to Venice this year. It was Magical to sail down to the Port, it will be a real shame if they move the cruise port.

What time are your flights out of Venice on July 5? My TA found a 10:15 a.m. flight out of Venice on July 5. 2 questions: does anyone know if we are indeed docking in Venice (given the dispute over cruise ships sailing near St. Marks, etc.) and if so, is 10:15 that morning cutting it too close?

I don't think that's too early. you can request an early departure when onboard and be off the ship by 8. I've been looking around and can't see any mention of the cruise ship dock moving as yet. Either way since we're actually in port lunchtime e the day before I'm sure you could get on the flight mentioned.
