6/13/2009 Western on Magic- Our Cruise Chat Continues!

My kiddos today. Davis, Brantley-Kate, Rees
That's a great picture of the kids.:thumbsup2

Hey,
Daniels treadmill test went GREAT today, the doctor said.:) Now we just have to wait for the doctor to look at everything he had done this week but still don't know why he is going through what he does.:( But I guess some good news is better then no good news.:goodvibes

What is everyone doing for the 3 day holiday weekend!! I say this because we still have school for 2 more weeks.:scared1::rotfl:
I'm glad the test went well- I hope they will find the cause of all of the stuff he has been dealing with.

Making more stuff and using it for magnets and T-shirts!!

Love the magnet!!

Oh, that's great!!! I was trying to check out the deck plan last night, but the "tour the shop" wasn't working ... it will be a DIS hallway!!!

Can't wait to meet everyone in person:banana:

I promise my teenagers are the quiet type and not what we saw on that youtube post:scared1:

What youtube post???:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Someone posted a youtube link a few pages back ... I'm trying to find it ... wherein it showed some teens running wild on the Disney Cruise at 11:00 at night. They were asked to move to deck 9 by a Cast Member ... they were taping the whole thing ... not that I would expect my teens to behave this way, but it was a little scary watching as I was hoping not to see one of my kids :scared1:

LOL. I felt exactly the same way. The stuff my son has told me about the cruises. Well, just let me say that I am sure there are many parents who would be shocked.

Good morning everyone!!!!

Well I survived Busch Gardens!! I was the designated "will you hold my bag" lady for the day since I won't ride roller coasters. These kids just left bags of "stuff" and money and ipods and went on their merry way. Oh, to not have a care in the world. The kids had fun, however, and I think DD went on the various roller coasters at least 20 times combined. The park was so quiet that they ran from the exit back to the entrances and went round & round.

Afterwards we went, with the bus, to a Golden Corral for dinner. That was a first for me, too, since I can be a food snob :snooty: (At first I wasn't going to admit it, but this is like a big therapy session here -- :rotfl:) Anyhow, it was quite enjoyable given the fact that there were 32 kids and 7 chaperones and 1 poor busdriver. The yeast rolls were to die for and I had a hunk of sirloin that was actually very tasty and the salad bar was not too bad. I miss those salad bars that used to be everywhere back in the day (at least when I was a kid)...

The kids were all doing fine and acting in a semi-civilized manner until they realized that there was a soft serve machine.... Suddenly they were trying to outdo each other with dessert plates mounded with ice cream and rice krispy treats and, oh my, I was sure we were going to get kicked out. So I had to have a stern-eyed mommy chat with the tables about "take what you can eat and eat what you take" (and I sounded like my Navy dad). Needed to say, DD, was MORTIFIED that I was lecturing the kids.

It's like that on the ships where people will literally fill their plates with a pound of bacon and I think, have you never seen bacon before? :sad2: Or the ladies with these huge plates of cut up fruit as if a cantelope is a rare and prized food. That's all cool if you are going to eat it, but it makes me crazy when at least 1/2 of it is left uneaten because "heck, we paid for it." Well, gee, of course you paid for it, but there's so much poverty in the world, and that amount of waste is disgusting, and if everyone did it then Disney would have to cut back even more on what they are offering (see the Steak discussion on the main threads for long diatribes on the food/menu changes and cutbacks.)

Off my soapbox.
Have a great day!

For Deb: have fun shopping with a teen gal ... I've long ago stopped buying things for DD without having her there because whatever I think is cute (read: classic, or appropriate, or not showing cleavage) she thinks is hideous.:rotfl2:

I made my DD aware that behavior was unacceptable. Of course I got, 'Duh Mom'

My DD wanted to know why they were out at 11pm. She usually has to be in the room by 10; although this cruise I may make an exception since I know the kids (parents) she will be hanging around with.

Thanks, Donna! Jayde said she needed new jeans... I just washed 6 pair of them last night. I suggested we make capris or shorts out of the ones that are too short. BIG mistake "Mom ~ they are stone washed, I will never wear them as shorts!" but she will as jeans. Even the ones w/no knees.

It is going to be a LONG day!

This is going to be our first experience with giving DD a 'curfew' before I knew exactly where is was...in the program! :) Hoping all will go well.

Did anyone else see on the main thread that the 5/30 cruise is going to Cozumel.

Ugh, shopping with a teenage girl... not a fun experience, in my house anyway! I'm with you Donna, anything I like, DD doesn't. I think she says she doesn't, just because I like it!:confused3

Amen on all the food waste! And what did happen to all those salad places??:confused3

We still have more clothes shopping to do. DS needs swim trunks and DD needs shoes to go with her dress for formal night. DS 12 has become as bad as DD - I can't buy anything for him without him being there, even if its from American Eagle or Areopostle. I think its from having a bigger sister whose fav channel is the style channel. :rotfl: I can't shop for myself when the kids are with me so I'll do some last minute shopping the week before the cruise while they are both away at band camp.:yay:

I want to say that I do not have a curfew for DS on the boat as long as there is an activity on the Navigator and I can find him!!! So if they have swimming on Deck 9 from 11-1am with the club which includes a counselor then he will be there.... I have peeped in before on him last cruise and actually found it quite enjoyable watching the silly teens!!!! Also for late playing movies he is allowed to go or sit in the hot tub long as I know or go to the arcade.... This is his 4th MAGIC cruise and he is very comfortable on the boat!!!:cool2:
He is very well behaved and I truly believe in his ability to have a good time and respect others!!!:yay:

What instrument does Layne play? What are EOG's? Kaitlyn plays flute and Ben does percussion. She also studies piano and guitar. They both have other camps in July, Ben for Boy scouts somewhere in OK (DH is going) and Kaitlyn has a Leadership camp in Galveston, so I'll have the house to myself the last week in July. Then HS marching band starts up Aug 4th, and school starts Aug 24th. Kaitlyn is also joining JROTC (we have an Air Force program at her HS - wish it was Navy since DH and I were both Naval officers). We're all through with the spring concerts and piano recitals. Now the end of year 8th grade grad party and Ben has his 6th grade band trip to a water park next Sat. We finish school June 4th. Can't wait for the lazy hazy days of summer!
OK, off to pull out the suitcases and make a list! :cool1:

Layne plays tenor sax!! EOGs are end of grade tests:thumbsup2 He is also in Marching Band next year and they are already going to the highschool on Wed afternoons for practice :scared1:... I even had to email the director because he is unavailable for the first Marching Band clinic on June 13th!:scared1:I am very nervous about keeping up with the marching band and Jazz schedule and everything else with the other two... I need a new BIGGER calender for the fridge for this fall:laughing: We still have 8th grade graduation and band banquet and then Lance has preschool graduation in August so a little time to breathe!:upsidedow And to think I am thinking of DD in dance class and Lance in gymnastics.... I must be insane!!!

Good morning all- It's been a long day and it's only 12:00. We have taken 2 loads of stuff to the dump already. Jordan went to a cookout with my mom, I'm getting ready to go to the Super Walmart and get some stuff. :goodvibes
