5th Park at WDW

Exactly. The yeti, for me doesn't take away from the thrill of the ride

Both of you need to set a higher expectation level.

Without the yeti... That is really a very dull coaster...doesn't meet the pre Harry potter dueling dragons...

If you are saying that Everest is a great ride or success with a minimum 33% of the design not functional... Then you must be using Chicago Math in your metrics.

I actually don't know what it is like with the yeti working i have never rode it with it working so thats why i expect that. When everest first opened it was success and its really the only major ride besides the safari at AK.

No I'm saying when I get on the ride and go backwards then go down the drop I enjoy it. That's just the basics. Whether the theming on the ride is functioning 100% doesn't change the fact that it is an enjoyable coaster. Things on rides don't function properly. Lets not get into the problems with the yeti on the ride it's been covered many times

I agree every animatronic on every ride isn't always working but that doesn't make it unenjoyable. Yes its best when it's all working but it's still fun.

Exactly it's a coaster. The enjoyment comes from the thrill of the coaster

Sorry, but everest is not nearly the same experience with out the yeti in original operation. It WAS one of the best show rides in the parks. Not any more.

The lack of upkeep of the animatronics is sad. The pterydactyle doesn't dive, the compys don't jump, the boulders don't fall, and the yeti doesn't... well it just doesn't.

I agree upkeep has definitely gone down. If walt were alive I don't think he would be very happy with that because animatronics were one of his prized technologies.

Upkeep. That's really the heart of my point here. Disney needs to refocus itself on upkeep of it's older and animatronics based attractions. This needs to be done before any 5th park could be a consideration

I agree with you from a Disney veteran or Disney geek standpoint but does the average person who doesn't spend all the time on these boards or other boards know what is supposed to be working and what isn't.

No but doesn't upkeep go beyond that? Doesn't that mean cleanliness of a ride(see maelstrom) or screens(soarin') there are some aspects that park visitors do notice. Also, at what point does the business decide to cut out the Disney veteran/geek from their target? Doesn't that grouping make up a decent portion of their market?

At the same time I will give it to Disney for trying to fix their rides this past year. Most rides still need a lot of work (dinosaur) but many of the rides have seen some great refurbishments this past year. Splash mountain, Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan, Pirates of the Caribbean, Spaceship work, and they even did a little bit of work on Space Mountain. Also I have noticed this last year that the parks seem to be somewhat cleaner then before. Still got a long way to go but maybe Disney is trying to clean up their act. (No pun intended)

Yeah, but I think that goes back to the previous point being made. Disney isn't going beyond the call of duty like its known for doing.

I think they still do a great job, and am completely happy with what I get every time I enter Disney property.

However, it's a fair point to make that Disney is slacking a bit on the "beyond the call of duty" aspect. The broken animatronics are a shame, and they should be fixed.

And that may be because they are focusing on different aspects than animatronics in the ride(ie mm+, crowd control, overall experience). Over the years Disney world has become more than a theme park, the concern here tho is that they have forgotten that they are at heart still a theme park. Overall guest experience is most important and they do a good job at that overall. At least I think so.

Completely agree

HS needs work but I think Epcot needs it even more.

For me HS has 4 majors (Star Tours, TSMM, TOT, and RnRC) while Epcot only has 2 (TT and Soarin, MS being a possible 3rd). Epcot has World Showcase to fill the void but simply in terms of rides Epcot is severely lacking.

I'd be very surprised to see a 5th gate until AK, HS, and Epcot have all seen massive improvements that increase their visitor count.
~I totally agree! Epcot's "Future World" is nice but in such a sad state to me. It could use a serious jolt of energy just by adding new rides & attractions with a more cohesive theme! The "Future" World thing is incredibly difficult for Disney to keep up with -- maybe "Retro World" is more fitting. DHS is a close second, this park is in desperate need of more family fun rides -- so expanding on the uber popular Pixar themes seem like a no brainer! And of course, Star Wars land. :lmao:

me too. Now I am lame.
~LOL. :lmao:

~beer dave, snap out of it! You will never be lame in my book -- not ever. Now, let's toast to that! :drinking1
