Seriously considering the 5k. The medallion looks great. I'll also be doing the full Sunday. However, I don't arrive until thur night. Is there anyway to run 5k? I won't be there in time for thur packet pick up.

Generally, like most local 5k's Disney has 5K packet pickup at the race start, also. (for the casual reader...THIS is the 5K ONLY) I have not heard that this has changed. A quick email to WDWM would confirm that this has not changed. Even if it does change, there are folks who would pick up your packet for you.

I'm curious about this as well. I just sent Run Disney an email.

Awesome. Let me know what you find out! Thanks

The info on the website says that 5K packets must be picked up at the Expo.

That said, I have seen the last couple of times (2010 and 2012) that they have had a Packet pickup available on race morning at the start area. So maybe they just don't enforce it?
OR...this is the year that they start enforcing a packet pickup and if you don't go to the Expo, you're out of luck.

Though we had many flight options that arrived on Thursday evening, we opted for a morning flight to make sure we can get to the Expo on Thursday and be sure to have our 5K stuff.

But do let us all know what they tell you!

It's said expo for a few years. However, to date I think they have offered the typical local 5k race late pick up.

But wouldn't it suck if they decided to enforce it the one time you think you can count on race day pick up? :)
Hopefully, the OP will get a good answer from the organizers.

I'd be interested in knowing this as well. I don't want to waste valuable park time to pick up the packet.
Also, is there anywhere to leave bags while you run? I would like to head to the waterpark after the race. Any idea what time they finish up?
Thanks so much!:)

Second question first, the time depends on you and your speed but I am thinking you will be headed to the room before the water park. Race start is 0630 so chances are you will be done well before 0730. Water park opens 1000 so you have time....

First question.. There is no bag check... If you have a car, then in the car. If you are on Disney transportation then you will either need a spectator, carry it, or find a place to stash your bag. The alternative would be hit the expo...

I see- didn't know the race started so early. 5K's are new to me.
I am "running" my first 5k this weekend for Crohn's and Colitis Foundation. We will be in Disney from 11/7-11/12 and I received an email about this 5k and I started thinking "hmmmm...- I could do this!"
Thanks for the info- now I need to think about this and how it will impact my plans that I have already made. We have tickets to the Christmas Party the night before- might be hard getting up to be at the Animal Kingdom well before 6:30 am.
I saw on the runDisney website that the marathon is sold out, but the Jingle Jungle is 52% sold out. Does this usually sell out?
Anyway, it sounds like a lot of fun!

Too many 5k's out there... This thread was originally the January weekend so my bad for assuming... FOr the Wine and Dine weekend, the race starts at 0700.... so slide everything back about 30 minutes.

I was not aware that charities were in the 5k's so I learned something.... You are more than able to be ready for the 5k. Even if training falls short, a big part of the 5k participants are walkers so do not let that bother you. You will still need to be in the AK area around 0630 just to get into the start area.

Usually the 5k's sell out closer to the race. Though if you are running through a charity, seems like they would have a slot for you. You may want to check.

Have fun.

I'm still waiting for a response from Run Disney. I wish they would automate their email system to send a response back stating that they received the message and that someone will get back to me within such and such time.

I'll wait a few more days. If I don't hear back from them by Wed., I'll send another email or call them.
