It looks like it has rained every night in WDW for hours not minutes and it very hot and crowded right now.

List as many things as you can about why WDW is better even in June.

Hello There,
yes, the weather is unpredictable and storms will/may approach with relentless torment. However, most of the rides are indoors and the weather will not affect the rides. As a matter of fact, when the rain comes, the crowds lessen. The only downer is AK, for most of it is outdoors and the animals, like us humans, seek shelter from the torrential rain.

On the other hand, DL has always been a favorite because everything is concentrated so close together and yes, rainfall is rare.

WDW would be the choice for me, if I were in your shoes. Take my advice with a grain of salt for I have only encountered severe weather rarely in FL. But the weather has been so strange lately so be warned. Either way, your kids will LOVE it with their Mickey Mouse ponchos and jumping from ride to ride. All it takes is a little patience and tolerance and the magic will always be there. Take it from me, WDW will be magical....no matter what the clouds bring.

Good Luck!

Also, keep in mind....it will be hot as you know what! so stay hydrated if you go to either DL or WDW. Both will be fantastic, no matter the choice!

oh yeah, hehe....DON'T PANIC! It's a vacation. Just plan and everything will go smooth. PM me if you need any advice on either park. I have been to DL a gajillion times so don't be afraid or reluctant to ask. If anxiety arrives, PM's are always a good way to go on a one on one advisory. Then, get a second opinion if you feel that I have not accomplished your mission. hehe. It's all about FUN! so DO NOT PANIC!

I remember panicking and the boards and books guided me through with grace. Believe in it. You'll make it through with the kids and have a wonderful time!!!! All it is about is planning. So again, PM if you have any questions.

First things first, BREATHE!!!! Now (quoting a fellow DISer) say to yourself....."A bad day at Disney is better than a good day anywhere else"!!!!!

Which ever park, whatever weather, you will have a great time. So relax and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thewave:

I vote for WDW. And one thing I try to remember when I'm down there is to not be too uptight about getting a little wet if it rains. Of course, you have kids and I don't, so I understand it might be a little easier for me to say that. I just remember growing up whenever it would rain at WDW my parents always acted like it ruined the whole day, and it seemed everyone in my family was then in a bad mood. When my husband and I started going on our own, my first inclination when it rained was to hurry up and take cover and try not to get wet. But a couple times we did get caught in the rain and we ended up just laughing so hard afterward about getting soaked; we looked like drowned rats, but were having fun and not getting too serious about it! If it's not raining very hard, we would continue to walk around and take advantage of the low crowds. I thought, what was sooooo bad about getting wet? I know it's uncomfortable sometimes, but we were there to have fun and we really tried not to sweat it.

One thing that helped was that we only brought clothes and shoes that dried out quickly. We wore Teva sandals and my husband even used a couple pairs of his bathing suit trunks as shorts...they dried out in no time!

Bring some pocket ponchos with you--someone here on the DIS boards said they stock up on them from the dollar store enough to bring new ones with them each day and then throw them out at the end of the day if they used them.

Also, when I go I try not to build expectations in my mind that everyday will be beautiful weather. Although that's what I hope for, I resign myself before we even get there that I won't let the weather ruin my fun and even if it rains, we will make the best of it and will still be able to enjoy ourselves. Try not to worry, and just tell yourself that no matter what happens, you will still make sure to have fun and not let it get you down!!

Hope that helps a little. Good luck!!!

-Laura

Better parks,
more to do,
cooler hotels/pools
water parks
more options for meals

And if it rained all week last week, it can't possibly rain forver, right?

Rain in WDW comes in flashes. If it rains, duck into a covered area and just have fun!!! :)

We live in CA and only go to WDW. We will be there in two weeks. Believe me, the showers are no big deal. You made the right choice, have a magical vacation!

Thanks everyone. We leave in the morning and arrive around 11:00 am. The kids don't even know yet. I am going to tell them when I wake them up.

I was really stressed last summer as well because of the weather. We were going for honeymoon, the forecast was terrible and I thought everything would be ruined if it rained! Yes, it did rain. A couple or hours each day, we even had some pretty terrible storms, but we just got on with it, threw our ponchos on and still had a marvellous time! In fact it became something of a joke and in almost every picture it is raining! Seriously it was THE best holiday ever, with or without the rain!!!

Have fun, love Verity.xxxxxxxxxxx:wave:

My boss was at WDW all last week and just returned. It rained every day, and *they had a GREAT time*. He has a 5yo daughter and a 7yo son.

They took my advice and went every morning to the parks early, left about 1:00-2:00, went back to CBR and rested during the worst of the rain which usually falls in the middle of the afternoon. Then they were ready to spend the late afternoon and evening having fun again.

I've also been there when it's rained all day, and we just put on ponchos and kept going. It's just as much fun as always.

First off, I live in FL and only a little over an hour away from the magic, and yes it has rained everyday for the past week, usually starting around 3:30 and usually over by 6:00 but if you look at the forecasts it looks like it is raining here everyday and every hour. I would say just plan to take a little break in the afternoon and go back to your room and relax, it will be all over before you know it and you will be relaxed enough to go back and enjoy some more! It is hot so the afternoon break will be a welcome relief. Heck you can't count on CA being perfect either, didn't they just have some after shocks from an earthquake....lol. We can't control the weather just how we react to it........so quit panicking and enjoy the time you have with your kids and have a great vacation!:cat: :cat: :cat: :cat: :fish:

Don't panic. Just got back from last weekend. Okay, it rained for two hours on Saturday, beginning about 3ish. We were able to fit a park in during the morning, hop the bus, get back to Port Orleans in time for it to start raining. It cleared in enough time to get over to MK to catch Wishes and the 11 PM parade. It is dreadfully hot, more of an issue than the rain (which actually cools things off a bit). It is very crowded - you heard correctly. Summer seems to be the time the Brits and Europeans take their "holiday." Now that school is out, it is more crowded than it was the third week in May, when we were there for a week. I would advise getting those fans that have the water bottles attached (not the DW ones, they're too pricey!) and try and do the parks either early on or later on in the day, and do some hanging around the pool at your hotel during the peak heat (check the early openings/late closing extra magic hours, if you're staying "on campus.")

Okay, I am leaving for So Cal this evening and cannot even tell you how much I would rather be going to WDW! Of course, I don't get to go to DL while I am there, or I might feel better!

Have you seen So CA lately? Brown, baby brown. Bleah......the green of FL is the way to go. That rain has some benefits! DD and I were there alone in May two years ago and yes, most days it rained and rained hard. One of her fav memories is running from Imagination to The Land in EPCOT in rain that was harder than anything we have ever seen. We laughed and giggled so much we could barely stay upright. And our shoes.......

But we were in WDW!!!!! That's the whole point so have a great time!
