.

I've gotten

- small personal fans (actually they still have them now)
- glow sticks
- small magna doodle like drawing boards for the kids
- crayons
- sunglasses (always loosing mine)
- watch (If I lose it only costs me a buck)
- ponchos (2 to a bag)
- book lights (the ones that clip on to your book - I use it for the kids. I hook it to their tray so they can play in the car at night without turning on the dome light)
- travel wet wipes (or diaper wipes)
- fat pen for autograph
- small toys and trinkets for the drive down
- pool toys - balls, diving sticks
- stickers for scrapbooking
- toiletries that I don't mind forgetting like hairbrush, toothbrush, etc

As you can see... I love all Dollar stores.

fat pens / autograph books
first aid kit
travel toothbrushes
crayons / coloring books
pooh & friends figurines for toddlers boodie bag
candy
travel card games (road signs & license plates)
ponchos
travel journal for DD

I am sure there are many other things, I just can't think of them right now. :)

Well, I haven't started shopping yet, but I'm sure I'll be looking for Disney Stickers, autograph books, little toys for the car, and who knows what else!!

I love Dollar Tree! Don't forget to get your rain ponchos there - at a dollar apiece, I don't mind throwing it away when the sun comes out!

At our Dollar tree the ponchos come in a pk of 2 for 1$. I think they come in yellow & clear. :)

If you're driving down with kids, I've seen those stick on things you can put on the car windows (I believe I saw these in a Rugrats theme pretty recently).

pipe cleaners are a wonderful thing.....
we've used them riding in the car, flying on the airplane, and waiting for shows to begin. Best part you can straighten them out and use them all over again.

I purchased the bracelet/necklace chem lights that you use at night during the parades.

Rain ponchos 2 for $1.00 (KALI Rapid River Ride)

We are DVC owners so if we stay in a studio we purchased plastic (picnic) silverware, bowls and plates ( set of 4 for $1.00)

Plastic baggies, the foil bakeware pans, Salt n pepper shakers, and other items to use when cooking.

You can find all kinds of inexpensive and useful items there.

Dollar Tree is a must before heading to WDW
1. Ponchos!- We buy several packs that way we just throw them out after the downpours.
2. Sunglasses-My husband swears by DT sunglasses (I personally cannot wear them but he loves em)
3. Sunscreen-Check exp. date
4. Candy and gum
5. Baggies and plastic containers
6. Hair things for my daughter-she has long hair and always pulls it back and up on hot trips.
7. Travel size containers
8. Mister fans-not the best quality, but they will usually last the trip.

Ponchos...more than we need, but we'll just throw them away when we're done with them

Toothpaste...they have small tubes...just throw them away

Small bars of bath soap...we just throw them away also

I was just at Dollar Tree, last week, and noticed they had a whole double sided rack of travel sized brand name products. I got shaving gel, shampoo, hair spray and Dove Daily Facial Cloths (five in a pack).

Great snack foods. Often the name brand stuff. Their granola bars are good. Also we buy the cheap plastic containers to put snacks in to keep fresh and crush proof. Just toss when empty.

Also the toys are great secret treats for little ones. Not too expensive that it's worth a hour or two of peace and then toss as the car gets too trashed or if you don't want to drag it off the plane.

We once got huge disney lolly pops there. There are about 5 dollars at WDW. I never get out for less that 30.00 before a trip.

I love the dollar store! Some are better than others, the best being the Dollar Tree.

*rain ponchos - dollar tree had the adult ponchos, and I found some for kids at another (can't remember the name) dollar store.

* small first aid kit

* 1 quart Rubbermaid blue ice sports bottle, the thermal one with the strap and ice pack. I can't believe these were only a dollar. I paid 4.00 for one at Walmart last year!

* plastic over the door hooks to hang bathing suits to dry

* always tootsie roll pops. I read somewhere (forget where) to give these to small kids while flying instead of gum.

I'll go pick up snacks and things a couple of days before our trip. If I buy them too early, they'll be gone!

Just a word of caution ~

i'm a huge dollar store fan too and have found some amazing deals!!! Anyone have "Itza Deal"? Its excellent, check it out. Especially good for Christmas and other holiday decorarions.

But you must be careful with expiration dates on foods and medications sold in this type of retailer. While the dates on meds are clearly stated (or should be unless they are SUPER old!!!) some foods have codes that can't be deciphered unless you call the company and ask ~ and they *Will* tell you. Food sold there is often old and while not necessarily harmful, the taste & texture will not be as good.

I was just at the Dollar Tree today and picked somethign up for our 2005 trip.

They have the folding hairbrushes with a mirror on the handle. They fold fairly flat and are about 2 1/2 inches long. They are Suave brand right with the other hairbrushes. Our DT had black, red and purple.

I picked up a black one to keep with us (in my purse) at the parks. My daughters play hard and I end up having to 'repair' their ponytails at least once a day. This will come in very handy. :)

Also, not Disney related, but they also have some 63 piece Strawberry Shortcake and Spiderman puzzles. I picked up a few of the Strawberry Shortcake for dd at Christmas. They had 4 different styles of the SS. I am not sure how many Spiderman styles.

Walmart has the small personal fans for .25 so get them there instead of the Dollar Tree. I got very cute princess coloring sets there last week.

Magnetix for the Disney Car Trip!

These are the magnetic small tubes and "ball bearing" looking things that are in packages of about 20 each...The brand name is Magnetix, but the Dollar Tree ones are knockoffs (same thing, tho) Anyway, I read this tip on another board and I think it's a good one: buy a couple packs of these for your kids and a cookie sheet that acts as a base, and they can "build" magnetic things on the cookie sheet in their laps...

Some of the things I was able to get at Dollar 'Tree for our trip in July were - hanging shoe bags
Mickey lollipops
Disney stickerfs
glow in the dark necklaces and bracelets
Disney stationery sets

I also bought hangers because the hotels never give you enough!

Ditto on the hanging shoe bags...
Best tip I've gotten off the boards!

I was able to get both a child-size
(for smaller items)
and regular adult-size hanging shoe bags,
and the child-size one has SNAPS!

I love Dollar Tree, and yes you have to
watch the dates but FYI this chain has
now gotten so big and so succesful
that the large manufactuers actually
court their business.
You know the glass wipes, furniture wipes,
car wipes, smaller (not mini) bottles of Dawn, etc.
that you find - all of them NAME brand?
Well, they make them specifically for
Dollar Tree!

Ok, Clif's tip of the day is done...

We don't have Dollar Tree where we are, but we do have dollar stores. I have checked to find where the Dollar Tree stores are in Orlando and I plan to get some glow necklaces when we get there. I tried packing them and taking them in the luggage last year and they were glowing already when we got there and unpacked. :(
