does anyone know if DL is going to do anything special in 2010 for the 55 year anniversary? I have not seen anything on the main site.

Thanks!

I know the 1313 club is planning another big celebration at the Disneyland hotel in September - similar to the Golden Horseshoe event they did last year.

And I've heard the Alumni club is doing something too. But nothing official about a park celebration yet - seems like a natural though, 55 years old and opened in 55. Probably will depend on the economy.

There waxs some info on Mice Chat about a month or so ago I will see if I can find it.
I dont think they are doing anything as such but they do have 55 Merchandise.
I will have a look for the link and post th here so you can all have a look.

I remember initially, that the theme for the 55th was going to be huge prior to the economic fall. I've heard it's been scaled back, limiting it to new merchandise, pins, etc. I remember that they mentioned ELP going back to Disneyland for the 55th, but never heard any more about it. I would think that they would want to move it since WOC is going to be a nightmare for DCA by itself without adding ELP into the mix.

I hope they do something to make the year special and get rid of the Celebration! promotion.

IMO, it has a lot to do with the current focus within Walt Disney Parks and Resorts on having a unified marketing front for both DLR and WDW.

While the 55th Anniversary of Disneyland Park is all good and well, how can it be used to promote WDW at the same time?

The same issue will arise in 2011, when the Magic Kingdom Park at WDW turns 40.

I'm sure there will be something. Probably nowhere as large as the 45th Anniversary celebration, but still visible in the parks. Probably will be tied in with What Will You Celebrate? most likely.

Thanks for the replys. I'm hoping that they do somthing. We have gone for the 45th, and 50th, and inbetween. So we wanted another celebration to go see.

I was kind of hoping that would go out the window with the transfer of Jay Rasulo. E.g. seeing "Disney Parks" on a rain poncho makes me not want to buy one. But I'm drifting off topic...
