55 and older cruisers

Please anyone reply, but especially those 55 and older.

If you have went on the 7 day Disney Cruise what words of encouragement could we use for a couple with reservations about a cruise with those DREADED kids on board? Is there an adults only cruise line?

This is a serious question! We would like for our in-laws to join us on our next voyage in March 2004, our kids (their grandchildren) will be 16 and 13.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I told my father-in-law I'd hook him up with an ID and he could read the boards for himself.

Went on a 7 day with mom and dad, and also mother in-law, both sets are close to 55 if not over, if they are reading this they would kill me for not remembering, we had a group of 11 with us, and speaking with my mom and dad, they did not notice any kids, All the kids had things to do, they are plenty of adult activities to do, they have an adult only pool area, and they are very strict about kids in that area.
My mom and dad did all the night clubs, comedy, dancing, ballroom dancing, there are plenty of things to do, you tone the kids out, was the exact quote from my mom..

Just got back from a 7 day Disney cruise in mid march. I am 52 and my husband is 61. We are a little strange in that our youngest daughter is 13. The cruise was her idea but we all loved it and can't wait to go again, which is saying alot as my husband dislikes both salt water and sand. We saw our daughter when she slept, at dinner, and in port. Other than that she had check in times and what we saw of her was the most we saw of kids except in the distance, so to speak, involved in things we weren't. We had the late dinner seating and a rotation starting with Lumires where there weren't many children and certianly no distractions by the few that were there. We stayed busy after dinner in the adult venues, and in the mornings we found lots to do that were adult activites. Mostly the kid were in the kid clubs, around the kid and family pool, in the family night club,and in line for pictures and autographs. The deck four promade was great to relax and read on, the adult pool was good, and there were adult interest programs. Polos was great too. We never even made it to the spa and that is also adult only. On castway cay the adult beach was perfect. The kids are there but every one has their own space.

I am 54 and she is 55 and we love DCL. We have never been bothered by children on any of our cruises. We stay at the adult pool during the day and have late dinning. Those are two places you seldom if ever see a child. Now, when you go to Plutos or Scoops to get your snacks you will see them and may even bump into them. No problem for us.
We also go to the adults only beach at Castaway Cay. It is so peaceful there.
The clubs are great in the evenings and late at night. No kids there either.
You will see them, they are there but it's not like visiting a day care center. We know because my wife is a K4 teacher.

My DH and I are in our fifties. We have cruised twice on DCL--just the two of us--and just love it! We're going again next winter. There are kids on board, but we tend to stay in the adult areas. The kids are busy doing their own thing elsewhere on the ship. It is so much fun--and so relaxing. We start each cruise off with a bottle of champagne in our cabin (ordered through DCL). We really do enjoy this cruise.
