$54 for ink cartridges!

Dan, you might try just a couple of cartridges from each company. Shipping will be proportionately bigger than if you bought a larger shipment. But this way, your overall investment is small until you figure out which company works better for your printer. Make sure you print of a picture with your current HP ink now, so you will have it to compare later when you print off the same picture with each of the other inks. (Allow your printhead to totally empty out of the old ink, before you make your comparisons.)

I did this the first time I bought from Abacus. I only bought 2 cartridges of each. Once I knew I liked the ink, the next time I bought, I bought 5 of each. Now, I'm set for a year. :cheer2:

I paid $56 for TWO cartridges....in the same package! :goodvibes DH told me it's the best deal for our money insteading buying one at a time because eventually I will need the other. My color cartridge was out for months and I finally replaced it, so now I have a black on hand when needed. :)

I hear you-ink cartridges are so expensive. My grandma started having her relatives send pictures of their families to my e-mail box so I could print them out for her. She only had an email station and could not get pictures. So at first I did it, but then it became a problem b/c her sibs would send 6 pictures of the same shot and ask her if she got all 6 of them. I kind of poor-mouthed for awhile and she offered to buy me paper to replace what I was using, but I said, "It's not the paper, it's the ink that is expensive" and that has become my catch phrase according to my family. "It's the ink!!!" So I had to tell granny's fam to just get reprints of their pictures made if they want her to see them. I can't afford to keep making tons of pictures for her. Probably mean of me, but I'm not made of money and it only costs them a few cents to get a reprint. I'm very sensitive about the cost of ink....

Just a side note, at the Office Max and Office Depot's here in Denver, when you bring in your empty ink cartridge, you get a free ream of paper. It's not a huge chunk of change, but, it is a little something, which is helpful if you print a lot of papers, ect.

Just thought I'd throw that out there so people can find out if a store in their area offers something for empty ink cartridges before they toss them.

So send them a link to Walmart or Walgreens and they can upload there pictures there for printing. And it's cheaper for you. :)

Is it bad that last time my ink ran out I just brought a new printer?? It was the same price! I rarely use my printer becuase I print all the stuff I need to at work!

I just ran to target to buy a color cartridge for work and they had alot of HP cartridges on sale. I ended up buying some for myself. Got the black #56 for $16 the tri-color #57 for $25 and the photo ink #58 for $16. Total for 3 cartridges was $60!!! I thought that was a pretty good deal. I believe the sale ends today 1/28.

I ended up having to ink a week ago and it was $67 for the black/color combo at office depot.. Luckily we had a $30 off certificate because we joined their club thing last month.. Depending on how much you spend each qtr you earn certificates .. we bought a new digital camera last month and then a table for my scrapbooking so we got a $30 certificate about a week or so ago.. then we had a coupon $15 off $75.. so we bought 2 reams of paper and got one free and the ink and it cost us $36 total!! Otherwise it would have cost me $67 plus tax

I just did the same thing! Our printer was acting up, DS had a major school project due, and we weren't sure if the cartridge was the only problem. A new HP all-in-one was less than $80 at WalMart, so I went ahead and bought it. It's not the highest quality, but it was cheaper than buying a couple of new cartridges that may or may not have fixed the old printer. Plus, now I can scan and copy.

I'll never buy another Lexmark. We got an all-in-one for something like $90 and it prints like a dream, but the cartridges are over $30 each. I do a LOT of printing, being in graduate school. Plus my kids and DH print as well.

Next time I'll price cartridges when I'm shopping for a new printer (which will be very very soon, as my printer is starting to get funky).

I just wanted to say again that, when purchasing inkjet cartridges (or new printers), make sure that you check the capacity of the cartridges. New printers are usually shipped with half filled cartridges. And I wouldn't be surprised if the ones on sale at Target are also the half filled variety (although I do not know that for a fact). You need to make sure that you are comparing apples to apples when finding bargains on inkjet cartridges.

OK. I'll come down off my soapbox now.
