So this is more of a "what do you think" and less of a "can anyone guarantee".

So we are of course waiting to book our package with everyone else for the 50th, we are looking at November or December of next year. By then I am thinking most of the park and experiences will be back open again.

My question comes with booking. As of right now people are still able to call in and book their reservations for 'room only' if they are 499 days out. We may have to resort (no pun intended) to this just to secure a room. But in the past, packages opened up around that magical June 19th date. Do we still think that is a possibility for trips next year? Or is this a we have no idea, it's all a gamble when it opens?

Just wanting to see what the good people on the Disboards are thinking!

I think the last thing they want to deal with right now are packages, given that they have cancelled all dining plans through year end, and all international package dining plans through the end of 2021.

I called today to book for September 28-October 3, 2021 and the CM said they have stopped taking ANY reservations. I was trying to just book room only for now. I even told her that I knew of other people who booked for that time frame over the last two days. She said, no can do. I wonder if that policy went into affect today, June 1st? Or if I should try again and hope for a different CM.

I figured this would be the case. I wish we knew more. With family in education the time off they get is so limited, so we either can book or we can't. We don't really have the option to book, then move at a later date.

We will keep watching and waiting!

Not a new policy that began today. This is the update from Disney "last" month. I think the last time it was updated was early last week.

New Disney Resort Hotel Reservations: At this time, new reservations at Disney Resort hotels are temporarily paused so we can focus on Guests with existing reservations (Disney Vacation Club Members can still make new reservations). Reservations will resume after that period of time.

It does make sense and that is what I thought that the reservations were frozen. Then I found this post and another about the October , 2021 anniversary and several people posted how they recently booked by phone rooms for late September-early October 2021 dates as recently as May 30 and 31st of this year.

3rd Tuesday in June the last 4 years, yes.

unlike others here I think they may open packages for 2021 when they reopen booking in order to rebook people that they would otherwise have to cancel due to social distancing requirements at the parks during heavily booked weeks this summer and fall.

I hope you're right! Want to book a June 2021 package ASAP. It just would be nice to have something concrete to look forward to!

I'm a teacher, so yep, 100% this. I am not complaining because I do get lots of vacation time, but if it doesn't work out, then we're waiting months or a whole year for the next opportunity. I'm hoping for some return to normalcy sometime......

This is exactly what I was thinking. I just come from the standpoint that maybe instead of mass hysteria, they keep it the same as previous years. I think allowing people to book trips at the regular schedule can help people prepare, and Disney, to know how it's going to all work out.

Yah, total we have one week in March (will never do spring break), either a full week or 2 days in July (depends on my wifes district), Thanksgiving week, and 2 weeks for Christmas. Now that are son is in school, we just can't take random days anymore. Plus my wifes works in a different school district than our son attends, and the dates don't match..... so we are really hoping for Christmas time next year, or we have to wait a whole year, and we miss the 50th...

We’ve pretty much resigned to doing summer WDW trips. I’ve got about 6 or 7 weeks I can play with in the summer, which sounds like more than you have. I have a week off in Feb for Presidents’ Week that we may attempt someday. But having family members in two different districts with different calendars would be tough!
We were able to attend Disneyland’s 60th a few years ago just a week after the date...because it’s in July! Haha.

Yah so my wife and I both use to work at the district office, I left a couple of years back to become a little more available, but her entire summer is pretty much a joke. I know I can get time off whenever I need, but she gets 9 days, and can't take them in more than 2 day sets, and can't do it before or after a holiday. Pretty much kills everything. That's one of the reasons we haven't done DVC.....
