Besides Victoria and Albert's, that is. I was there once, we I turned 33, I think....

Right now, we have reservations at Yachtsman, which has always been one of our favorite restaurants. We have had a couple of bad experiences there in the past five years, though, as well as some good ones, so I'm wavering....

Are you looking for a signature restaurant? (2 TS credits).

Did you want one within the parks, or resort?

Are there any kids in the party?

Not on the dining plan, will likely have the TIW.

On Disney property somewhere....our son will probably be in a kids' club.

Yachtsman is good, other suggestions;

California Grill followed by watching wishes from the roof we did this for my son's birthday.

Jiko where we ate for my wife's birthday

Citrico's

Shula's where I want to eat again on my birthday

All great choices!! I was going to recommend Cali Grill as well actually. :thumbsup2

Since it's the big 50 you may want to go somewhere that is easier to digest the food and lower your chances on needed Maalox all night long.:lmao:

I am only kidding, I am looking square in the face at the big 50 myself in 3 short years; congratulations. My two favorite restaurants in WDW are California Grill and Narcoossee's. IMO, they offer excellent menu's and very good food. I know Narcoossee's gets mixed reviews, but I love it. The surf and turf is excellent and I substitute with Scallops. Narcoossee's offers an excellent view of Wishes and the Electric Water Pagent as well. California Grill is quieter than Narcoossee's and also offers an excellent view of Wishes. I love the sushi and the dishes I've tried are the grouper and the filet; both were very good. Enjoy your celebration! ;)

There are so many choices. I have celebrated by birthday at Narcoossee's, Rose & Crown, and Biergarten and this year will be the Biergarten again for my 65th. A lot depends on whether you want fine dining or fun.

Other suggestions would be:

Fulton's
Shula's
Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue
Yachstman Steakhouse
Sommerfest for a good brat

I can be happy with a really good hot dog, but that has become almost impossible to find at WDW. It comes down to what you like. There are a lot of places others rave about that I don't care for.

If not on the dining plan and you don't want V&A, I'd definitely go with one of the 3 upscale restaurants at Swan/Dolphin. They are all more adult oriented with better service and food than the Disney signatures. Every meal I've had at these restaurants has been very good.

There's also Bistro de Paris in Epcot. We've had good experience there although I've read two recent negative reviews.

We spent our last 2 anniversaries at Citricos and the food was incredible! We ate at the Yachtsman in Feb and it was amazing as well...prefer the atmostphere at Citricos though

I turned 50 in WDW and we went to the Spirit of Aloha Luau at the Poly that night. It was fantastic. I even went up on stage and danced when they called for people who were celebrating birthdays.

To me a huge birthday like 50 is more about celebrating than it is about the food. So I wanted a party type of atmosphere for dinner.

I love Jiko and enthusiastically recommend it for any special occasion. The food is somewhat exotic for unadventurous palates, but nothing is too unusual and there enough options for picky eaters. I adore the Animal Kingdom Lodge, so the setting absolutely adds to the experience.

California Grill is the other obvious choice. There is a reason why many people consider it Disney's best restaurant.

When Dh turned the big 5-0 He chose Yachtsmen. It was so good that 2 years later on my big day I chose the same place. It was just as good! We also chose YS for our 25th anniversary and got a personalized menu. (I don't think they do that anymore):sad1: and a free dessert!
Happy Birthday. Enjoy!!

I would suggest the California Grill! The food is great and you have a great view of Wishes! Whatever restaurant you choose to eat at, I hope you have a wonderful time and happy 50th!! :bday:party:

We ate at Yachtsman this past December and it was amazing :thumbsup2. Another suggestion is Artist Point :).

Great to hear all the Yachtsman reviews! Perhaps I'll stick with that.

I would (and probably will next year for my 50th) rent the Grand 1 for the evening with a catered dinner, a bottle of Veuve and enjoy Wishes from the boat.

My favorite place on the "World" is Flying Fish! I had a fantastic 40th B-day dinner there in February..in fact it was so good we cancelled a dinner 2 nites later just so we could go again :)

I would choose Shula's. Free kids club for you little one if you choose to dine alone.
