i have sort of a long question i need help answering. my parents 50th anniversry is on may15th. we origanally we'rent going to do anything except take them out to dinner because on the 29th of may we are as in 13 of going to disney for their anniversry . well flash forward to last friday my sister calls and now wants to do an open house for them ,well i guess idont have to much of anissue with that as it can still be simple my question is i was planning on announcing their anniversry in the paper anyway so now that we are having an open house for them will tell everyone in the paper be enough or should i send out invites ? please advise as i'am up against time.

I would send out invitations. Unless I was very very close with the couple I would wonder if I should go to the event or not unless I was personally invited.

If you'd rather, and the timing is that tight, you can also call a few of your parents' friends directly.

As a side note, I feel your pain! I asked my inlaws a 10 + months before their anniversary. I heard " Just dinner with the immediate family" every time I asked. I left it to DH and his brothers to make arrangements. About 2 weeks prior to their anniversary, the inlaws decided they wanted a few friends (40) to attend. By some miracle we got a really nice party put together.

Have your sister send out invites since she is the one who wanted the open house.;)
