50th Anniversary

Hi all! I finally became a DVC member and when logging in to see availability, it’s pretty scarce availability for the Oct 1st 50th anniversary.

I’ve been trying to read up on what will be happening for the 50th - looks like it’s a 15-month long event. I joined a waitlist for a studio room...maybe I need to spring for a more expensive room if this is a spectacular not to be missed? Also thinking of just going the few Days following...unless they’re giving o ur free cars or something on the 1st? (LOL) Any thoughts or insights?

AFAIK, Disney hasn’t announced anything officially, so whatever you’ve read is speculation based on previous anniversary celebrations. Personally I think MK will be a madhouse on October 1, but if you want to be part of that, then book something even though it’s more expensive than what you planned. You can waitlist for your first choice - just be careful with your banking window, if filling the waitlist would return points to your account.

I expect it will be at least a year long celebration, but since we have never been at WDW for past anniversary celebrations we decided to make sure we were there for the 50th anniversary. I expect the crowds will be horrendous and that means we might bail after a few hours but we should be there for the speeches.
