50th Anniversary Crowd/Wait Projections

It looks like a data issue. The individual ride wait times are almost identical to the previous day (September 30th) which is a "4". My guess is they adjusted the number to a "10" to account for the beginning of the 50th anniversary celebration but did not adjust the individual ride wait times yet.
This. They haven't updated the wait times to match the crowd prediction yet.

Also, crowd capacity will be upped and fp possibly return by Oct. 1st, so wait time predictions will continue to tick upwards with each change to the data points.

Pre COVID, Disney had plans to spend billions on new attractions and updates. Several have now been delayed, scaled back, or cancelled. Some of these were timed for the 50th (e.g. Tron coaster).

Historically, the 100th, 50th, and 25th are the big anniversaries. 45th is nothing.

Yes, the plans for the 50th were bigger than the 45th.
Your comment was about "that day", though. Most of the "new attractions and updates" (and most of the stuff that was delayed or cancelled) was happening at Epcot, not the Magic Kingdom. All of the announced Magic Kingdom stuff is still happening, just a little later.

I'm somewhat convinced that Chapek has used COVID to cancel some of the more expensive aspects of festivities that day.
I was just curious what the "more expensive aspects of festivities that day" would have been. Like how much money would Chapek actually be saving.

Total speculation, but I doubt they would have gone all out that day in a non-COVID world beyond the new stuff that would have debuted that day and lasted the year - the debut would have been the big deal. I think the only major change is a likely downscaling of the morning presentation - like there might have been a show and/or a parade of some kind. Maybe a fireworks tag of some kind that night, but I'm not even sure about that. But I don't know what else they would've done.

Maybe everybody’s going to Epcot for new Remys Ratatouille Adventure ....

DHS might still be the hot ticket.... It's mostly new now, and nothing still in construction.

I never would have expected Disney to invest as much into WDW 50th as they did to DL 50th event day.... always the red headed step child that does all the work. I wouldn't even be surprised if they do some entertainment that is pre-recorded and edited days earlier to show on the morning shows, along with highlights from around WDW. Because not much new to see at MK, other than a painted Castle.
