50's PT or Mama Melrose?

We are traveling in Dec and will be in HS in the evening of my DD's 5th Birthday. Planning to see Fantasmic which looks like it will be at 7pm that evening.

We haven't ever been to MM and were at PT many many years ago. Which do you recommend?

We thought about eating out of the park at one of the surrounding resorts (BW, YC, BC, etc.) but not sure time will allow as we are spending the morning in MK. We are open to suggestions tho!

If you want the reserved seating for fantasmic I would do MM and get the fantasmic package.

We prefer 50's prime time. We have eaten there many times and like it. It's casual and fun. Lots of people here will like MM but being from NY we just don't think it compares and the food is so-so. That's just us though.

Agree on MM for reserved seating.
With that being said we have recently eaten at both and thought they were both good.
You get much more food at MM with the Fantasmic package package though

We love both of these restaurants, but if your wanting to see Fantasmic then you should book the Fantasmic dinner package for MM.... Chicken parm is my DH fave and I love the steak!! The dessert sampler is great!!

MM has really good food and the F! Pkg was great. I've eaten at 50's and it was ok. Have you considered Sci-Fi? It's my family's favorite and for a kid's birthday dinner extra fun. The atmosphere there is the best out of all the choices at DHS.

We did consider Sci-Fi and haven't ruled it out, we just didn't think our DD's would care for the B&W Sci-Fi movies playing

Sci-Fi is difficult to help a 5 year old eat when you are sitting in the car, in the dark. 50's is our kid's favorite meal of the trip. The food is good, homestyle type of food that most people will enjoy.

Mama Melrose HANDS DOWN! We have eaten at Mama Melrose 5 years in a row and it never disappoints. The steaks and Sangria are fabulous!

Sci-Fi is difficult to help a 5 year old eat when you are sitting in the car, in the dark. 50's is our kid's favorite meal of the trip. The food is good, homestyle type of food that most people will enjoy.

At that age, my kids had no trouble negotiating their dinners by themselves (burgers and fries), but yes- any child that you need to hand feed would be an issue unless they sit right next to you (seating is bench seats all facing forward). True, the restaurant is dark, however, the tables are lit underneath. Unless your child needs a lot of assistance eating, I wouldn't worry about it. The movie clips they show are just ok, nothing special. I would say they enjoyed actually watching for about 10 minutes. They primarily liked it because it looked like we were outside in the dark and they were eating in a car (for some reason this was more exciting than eating in our own car ) The glowing drink things were a big hit too. Food wise you won't go wrong with any of the choices mentioned and the F! package is a very good thing. I just think Sci- Fi is a lot more interesting for a kid. Enjoy!

50s PT is my favorite restaurant on property. The sampler platter with the meatloaf, fried chicken, and pot roast is so filling and so so good. The atmosphere is so much fun and if you do a 6:30 reservation, you can just walk right over and get to fantasmic when the amphitheater opens and get a seat.

We really like both, but we would choose 50's Prime Time. We eat there on every trip.

Love 50's PTC. Mama Melrose was just ok. I would rather go to fantasmic a bit early and pick my own seats and eat at PTC than eat at Mama Melrose and sit in their reserved section. The Fantasmic theater is huge and arriving even 20 min before should be ok for December unless your going Christmas week.

We like both. Can't go wrong with either one but if booking the package with MM makes it easier, I'd do that. I like easy.
