Ok, 100 days after our initial ADR date and I am STILL having issues committing to them haha!

I had originally scheduled both. Then I cancelled 50's and booked Kouzzina. But then I remembered the last time went there the waitress spilled hummus all over my husband's lap and just laughed it off, without any apology, so that's out.

Now back to 50's... are they too similar? HS is killing me - there's not really anywhere standing out to me! :confused3

I prefer 50s over sci-fi. Here is my review:

I wouldn't say 50's and Sci-Fi are too similar personally :goodvibes We love them both!

We did 50's prime time this trip for the first time - I really enjoyed the simple, home-style food there! And of course the interaction with the servers is hilarious! I would personally just go back for the cocktails and Dad's brownie dessert! Any dessert with popcorn on it has me as a firm fan :lmao:

We love the atmosphere in Sci-fi too but for completely different reasons - watching the videos just make us laugh!

I agree that nowhere hugely stands out in HS, but if you're happy with the food in both 50's and sci-fi then I'd say go for it! If we'd had space on our recent trip we would definitely had done both!

They are both 2 of our favorites. I also would say they are not too similar. We love the atmosphere at Sci-Fi and it is such a nice break from the parks because it is dark and quiet. popcorn:: The food isn't terrible, just not spectacular. Burgers, good turkey sandwich, etc.
We like the food at 50's better - sometimes you get the schtick and sometimes you don't. Depends on the server. Last time, they just served us which was fine. The time before, I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and wasn't allowed to sit back down until I answered what color the soap was to prove I had washed my hands - I will never forget it was blue and wonder what she would have done if I hadn't known.......:scared: The sampler platter at 50's is awesome and has a little of everything - meatloaf, fried chicken and pot roast.

I really don't think they similiar at all.

My son's must eat restaurant is Sci-Fi. I don't really care for the food at 50's but I love the atmosphere.

I agree with previous posters. I don't see that many similarities and have done both on the same trip, so I don't think you will have any issues.

On a side note, we dined at Kouzzina's last trip and our server was rude. We will not go back any time in the near future. Sci Fi and 50s PT are better choices IMO.

Have Fun!

I second the trio; so goooooooooooood! This is a photo from our trip last month:

And here's that dessert I was talking of.... I could do with one of these right now!!

Thanks for the re-assurance!! I can't believe I am still struggling with my ADR's haha, I don't know whats wrong with me! I think we are going to keep both restaurants!

Oh and that sundae looks YUMMY!!! :lovestruc

I've been debating these 2 myself, but not for me. Of all the restaurants in wdw my mom picks these 2. They are coming for 3 days, with just one at HS. So I'm looking at 50's for lunch and sci fi for dinner, or vice versa. I was wondering if it was a little much myself. Glad to hear most find them very different!

I would do sci fi for lunch and 50s for dinner. Sci fi is more burgers and sandwiches so for us it's a good lunch. Primetime's meals are heavier in general and for us that's dinner. Just what we do.

we always do both during our one day at HS

sci-fi early lunch (burgers, fries, shakes)

50s for dinner (pot roast for DH, caesar salad and crab cake for me)

enjoy both for their unique theming

We like scifi better for the theme. Love that place!! I love that its super quiet, and cool (temperature-wise). Food has always been great. This past trip we had the chicken wings (very yummy!), spinach dip (delish!), and onion rings. Very good. For dessert we had the choc peanut butter cake, it was devine!

We like 50's too, love the antics and the PB&J shake, but we like scifi more.

Doing both in one day is definitely doable! :thumbsup2

Other than both being in the same park, I don't think they are at all alike. If you were already planning to be there both days, I would keep both ADRs. If you want something outside the park but nearby, ESPN is good for lunch. It's just bar food but it's tasty and the service is always pretty good.

We just got back last month and went to SciFi for lunch and 50's for dinner. We had the burgers and shakes at SciFi and the fried chicken and pot roast for dinner. Both places were great. They both have down home type food but very different atmospheres. We love both.

Other than being unique - I wouldn't say that the two are similar at all really. 50's Prime Time is more home cooking with everyone is family type of play by your servers and your "cousins" at the other tables. The servers take their cues from you so if you are more into the food and not the banter they tend to be pretty low key and mess with the others willing to play along. The food selections are more along the meatloaf, fried chicken, pot roast type of entrees.

Sci-Fi is more like a drive in movie - dim lights so it feels like a drive in. You are seated two to a table in the cars so you really only have your seatmate to speak with. You can talk to the people in front or back of you if you have a group, but you have to twist around in your seats. The servers are efficient but try not to linger at the table too much so you (and the people around you) can watch the movie clips. The food is good - but more towards the burger/sandwich type of fare.... although you can get some pasta and a few other things as well.

We love them both and try to stop every chance we get. Sometimes a lunch and dinner in the same day - we love both of them for very different reasons!

Have a great trip!! and......... commit to them :rotfl2: - you won't be sorry!
