50's Primetime or Sci Fi Dinner?

No trip is complete unless we eat at the Sci-fi luv the atmosphere and the shakes are a a must. A favorite is the picnic basket which is an angus burger trooped off with a hot dog...

I personally would choose 50's, we had REALLY bad service, and the food quality wans't great, and the atmosphere was just dark and unfriendly.

50's on the other hand had great food, amazing drinks (electric lemonade & pb & j milkshake to be exact), service was awesome, and because of the "theme" it's super interactive and a lot of fun!

Sci Fi is a must for DH and myself. I love the cool, dark atmosphere with the silly movies playing.
I guess if you are a large group it would be a pain to try to talk to each other..
I love the burgers! DH had the ribs in May and they were amazing!

50s has much better food and is a better overall family dining experience due to the car situatio .

That said, kids go nuts for Sci Fi. I consider it one of those unique to Disney experiences and feel everyone should try it once.

My family and I ate at Scifi last night. I has the salmon Blt. It was hot and yummy. My son had a picnic burger which he liked. Daughter had a kids hamburger. We also has an Oreo milk shake. Everyone was very nice. My daughter was allowed to get a kids meal even though she's ten. The only difficulty we had was getting our change. I would go back again in a heartbeat!

We couldn't decide so we made resos for both for our vacation in October. When we went two years ago, we thought we could get in with no reservation. Wrong! Really looking forward to eating at both places.

We've done both and loved them, though for the last three trips my kids have picked Sci-Fi. They get to sit in the "front seat" and DH and I sit in the "back seat" and pretend we're on a date- hehehe. It's not really the best atmosphere for a big family meal though. And honestly last trip we had not so great service.
Our experience at 50's was excellent though. I still remember our CM- she was so sweet and funny and made the whole meal wonderful, even taking silly pictures with us. The food was great too. I think the reason we haven't been back is the food though- I cook a lot at home, so when we're on vacation we tend to want to eat things I don't make at home. I would vote for 50's for your family.

I am on Team: Sci-Fi..... We did both on our last trip. My boys enjoyed the burgers & the drive in atmosphere of sci-fi. Although, we all like the food at 50's our waitress was just going through the motions... For me it was like eating my own cooking.

We've made our decision! Sci Fi for lunch, 50's for dinner!!!
It seems pretty split on here and since this is a major trip for the whole family that we won't get to do again for a while, we'll take advantage and do both:cool1::cool1::cool1:
Thanks so much everyone!!!!!!!!!

Great compromise you will enjoy both

I don't know the last time you went and how big of eaters you all are but I will share with you that there is NO WAY our family could possibly eat at two sit down meals in a day. We have gone there for 7 years on the free dining plan so granted, our meals come with dessert but the portion size of the meals is so big that we have trouble eating a sit down dinner after eating a counter service meal for lunch. In fact, I often end up skipping lunch just so I can be hungry for dinner after eating so much every day. I would suggest if you have not already done so, if you intend to try to squeeze both in (and remember, free milkshakes come with your Sci-fi meal which makes it even more filling) that you plan to do Sci Fi as early as possible and make your Prime Time Cafe a very late dinner. With many, many hours in between and all the walking, maybe, just maybe you will be hungry enough to enjoy the meals. If you are paying out of pocket, then you certainly will want to enjoy these overprices, albeit good meals! :)

We are doing the same thing but reversed. 50's for lunch and sci-fi for dinner.

We have been to 50's twice now and love it, and my 19 year old daughter REALLY wanted to go back there, but I REALLY wanted to try Sci-fi so we are doing both! Yay! Everyone's happy! :)

I can't speak to 50s PT (trying it next trip) but we love Sci Fi! Another difference to consider is that Sci Fi is primarily burgers and fries, whereas 50s PT has some heartier entrees that some may prefer.

IMO, Sci Fi is such a unique experience that can only be done in Disney, it's worth trying!

That is actually what we are doing also. I can't wait. I'm really excited to try both places!
