Trying to decide where to dine for our second day in DHS (our first day will be at the Brown Derby). Which do you like better 50's Prime Time or Sci-Fi and why? Thanks for the help.

Food is good.. burgers especially..

Atmosphere is FANTASTIC!!!! Great to watch the "old monster movies" and funny commercials from days gone by...

Highly recommend Sci Fi!

We were debating on this too and have decided to do both! Sci Fi for an early lunch and 50's PT for dinner. :goodvibes If you're on the DDP, it seems like Sci Fi would be fairly cheap OOP.

In my opinion if your going to do both you got it right. Si Fi dinner isnt that good and not worth it .
Have fun & enjoy.:thumbsup2

I personally like 50's Prime Time Cafe better - Found the food to be better and I loved the "Cousin" we got on our first visit. We had great interaction, and lucky I took no offense to being fed some of my veggies because I didn't clear my plate... :rotfl:

50's PTC... no contest. 50's is a must for us on our DHS day. The problem is not so much that 50's is so much better, it's more that Sci-Fi is really lacking. The menu isn't that great, IMO, and the food I have settled on is really subpar by Disney standards (which can be hit or miss in the first place). The atmosphere is cool and worth experiencing, once.

We like the menu at 50's a lot better. It's more comfort food oriented (pot roast, chicken pot pie, etc.) and the food itself is pretty good. The quality of the shtick depends on your "mom", "aunt", "cousin", "uncle". Some get more into it than others. But even if your "family member" isn't into it, it doesn't really take too much away from the experience, IMO.

I chose Prime Time because I do like the food and theming better BUT Sci Fi is really cool. My brothers would vote Sci Fi because they are such huge Sci Fi fans so if you are going for a theme, think about which one you'd like better. If you are going for food, I prefer Prime Time but Sci Fi is edible and even good (think burgers and 50s drive in food).
Good luck with your decision!

I prefer Sci-Fi. I liked the food there better, and I think the atmosphere is much more interesting. The seating isn't the best for conversation, but it's a fun place!

I prefer Sci-fi. It is a welcome break in the middle of the day for lunch or for dinner in a quieter, cool, calm place. Mom and Dad in the back seat of the car, the kids watching old movie clips, and adult beverage or two......perfect.

I like the food at 50s PTC, but it is hectic there. Tables are close together in the "kitchen" setting, seems noisier, etc.

my family ate at both last visit and we loved the 50's prime time. we liked the sci-fi as well but i had two very sick teenaged boys after eating there so we won't be going back. not sure what it was because they both got something different but it definatly put a sour taste {no, pun intended} in our mouths for sci-fi!

I voted for Sci-Fi even though I've never been to either...lol. My dad and step-mom went to Prime Time and didn't really care for it. Although my dad is light hearted, he likes to eat and not be bothered while eating. I thought about trying Prime Time for myself, but I think DD will like Sci-Fi more.

I really didnt care for Sci-fi. The food was ok it was just that it was way too dark for me. I like to see my food when I eat it. I also didnt care for the side by side and front /back seating. Esp when you have young kids. You really couldnt have a conversation or anything. We LOVE Prime time. The kids get such a kick out of "getting yelled at" to keep their elbows off the table. My DS who was 9 at the time was so embarassed to be fed his veggies airplane style and told to open the tunnel. We still talk about it to this day. We cant wait to go back in Oct.

Just came back from our Disney trip... our worst dinner experience (out of 6) was 50's PrimeTime.... my family will now boycott this place and we had to file a claim with Disney for damages!!!!

You know this is a tough one. We went to 50's Prime time on our first ever trip, and loved it. We've been back a few times and loved it. But you know what I love Sci-fi more. Some people say the food isn't good, but I think they are expecting it to be on par with Epcot sit downs for food quality, and while the food is good it's the atmosphere that draws me back time and time again. When I was a kid we went to the drive in all the time, but my 6y/o may never go. The nearest is too far for a spur of the moment trip and doing an overnight for a drive in does not seem realistic. I love everything about the visuals as well as the sounds at Sci-fi. Sitting in the "cars" is a great experience for the 3 of us. 50's on the other hand has a better menu I think and while the overall atmosphere is cool, It's not something I love doing every trip. I like the feeling of sitting in my Grandmother's kitchen again, but I didn't see Star Wars when I was 5 in my grandmother's kitchen.

Just got back this past saturday.....Ate at both for dinner.....will never go back to sci fi for dinner...not a good selection of food....had some kind of steak there was like rubber. never again.....love 50's though
