50's Prime Time versus Sci-Fi Showdown!

We've done 50's before and loved it, but I'm a little worried my sensitive younger children will be scared at Sci-Fi.

We love Sci-Fi, but I must admit that back in the 50s and 60s I myself (a younger child at the time) was scared by the horror movie trailers that are now shown at Sci-Fi. It’s not all movie trailers — there are some funny cartoons, “news of the future” clips and other clips too — but in the darkened (not totally dark, just twilight) room a sensitive young child might be legitimately scared. I have no idea whether you could find a video from Sci-Fi online, to get an idea for yourself whether your children would be scared or not. So it might be better to repeat 50s Prime Time instead of taking a chance of having a meal ruined by a child too scared to eat.

50s by a wide margin. Our burgers at Sci-Fi were not good at all. The meat had no texture and seemed it like was made from the "pink slime" instead of quality hamburger meat.

I like them both, but 50's has the edge for food quality. I like Sci-Fi for the ambiance.

I love Sci-Fi - I find the food delicious and the atmosphere cant be beat. I love the antics at 50’s but the food is just so-so IMO

Two weeks ago we did Sci-Fi for lunch and 50's for dinner. We always go to Sci-Fi but 50's was a 1st for us.
We like Sci-Fi a lot more.
Burgers, shakes and a fun atmosphere where you can relax.
50's theme is very cute inside but we thought the portions were on the smaller side. Well at least the meatloaf was.
I did like the gf dessert- s'mores!

We were the exact opposite. We liked the atmosphere of sci-fi, but the food was bleh. 50’s Prime time cafe had great food and the waitress was great. She teased us a bit, but no so much as to make anyone uncomfortable. The kids liked the old 50 TV shows too. We won’t go back to sci-fi, but PTC is a must do for us.

Which do you like more and why? We're trying to decide which one to book next trip.

I prefer the food at Prime Time (and I have a sense of humor to enjoy the so-called antics).

I prefer the uniquely-Disney ambiance at Sci-Fi.....with children, because children don't understand the ambiance at Prime Time.

So, for adults with a sense of humor, Prime Time.
For uniquely-Disney (and/or with children), Sci-Fi.

Regardless, grabbing a hand-crafted Margarita to-go from Prime Time Lounge is a favorite family pastime at Disney.

Coin-flip if you can't decide.

I love how this thread goes back & forth between the 2 restaurants.
We loved Sci-fi, it is dark. We are a family of 4, 1 in a highchair which they pulled up to the table for us. I got the chicken pasta, was spicy (I'm a wuss) but was one of the best meals I had at WDW. Like others said, its dark but is nice to just calm down & de-stress.
Havent done 50s. Scheduled it twice & twice we didn't make it. However spouse is a sour puss so not sure he would like if we got a waitress(er) who played up the whole getting onto you.

Definitely Sci-Fi for me. 50s is good, liked the food, atmosphere is unique/fun. But, I prefer both the foot and atmosphere at Sci-Fi and the added bonus of being one of the coolest/quietest places in all of WDW is a very welcome break during our hot August trips.

Love them both, We usually do Sci-Fi for lunch because we prefer a burger or sandwich over a big heavy plate of fried chicken or meatloaf.
