50's Prime Time Questions

We have never dined at 50's Prime Time, but after looking through the pictures of the inside of the disney restaurants, (see this thread if you haven't already http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1116965 ), it looks like a place where we could eat with my 4 and 6 year old and not have to constantly entertain them. So, now for my questions.

1. Do all of the tables have the TV's, or do you have to request those? And is that done when you make your ADR's?
2. Can you seat 6 people at those tables?
3. Do you even recommend this restaurant? I know nothing about the food.

We last went in Nov 2005 and there was not a TV at every table. You will probably have to request that when you check in at the restaurant, though I am not sure if they will honor it.

As far as the food is concerned, I was expecting bland or overly salted food and did not get that. We were suprised (in a good way) about the food and are thinking about going back there when we go in October.

While there was not a TV at every table there was one in view of every table. We just ate there on Monday with a party of 6 [ at 1 table] and we REALLY enjoyed it! The food was great and our waitress "Auntie Claire" was awesome!

Actually, the TV's are only at about 1 in 5 tables. You can request one , but you may have to wait a while to get it.......you cannot specify this with your ADR.

The tables with TV seat 4 people.

The food is good old comfort food and the atmosphere is great.....so yes it is one I would recommend.

Now, the TV's are not playing shows that will "entertain" your children. They play a loop of clips from old B/W tv from the 50's........the clips are short and often are from shows they have never heard of or will not understand, so I think if you are looking for the TV's as a means of pacifing your children through dinner it probably will not work for you. Saying all that, it is a fun place to have dinner, but the TV's will not serve the purpose you seem to be hoping for.

I am not sure about question 1 or 2 but I have eaten there and it is pretty good. I wont say it was anything groundbreaking but definitely good food. And the atmosphere of the place is enough to put it over the top. It is pretty much homestyle favs but all were done really well when we were there.

My favorite restaurant, not only in WDW, but anywhere!

TV's are not at every table, but you can pretty much see them from all the tables. Seating 6 is not a problem there.

And I sound like a broken record on these boards, but the POT ROAST is absolutely the most delicious food on the planet. I live for my WDW trips and diving into that pot roast.

The entertainment doesn't come from the tv (though it's fun to see who remembers some of the shows--some are really oldies!) but from the interaction between the waitstaff (your aunt/cousin/uncle) and the comments they make to not only your table but to those around you. Now not every server is as good at playing the role, but we've been lucky and have had interesting servers and I think the food is fine. Not gourmet by any stretch--but solid.

Food is good comfort food and interaction with CM servers is fun,we do PTC at least once each trip. Danny

The food was good, but not entirely memorable. We had a great time there with the atmosphere. Unfortunately we did not get a television at our table, but we were able to see the tv screen that was near by.

Oh, and they made me eat two more bites of my vegetables before I could have dessert.

My kids love this place. When I asked about places they wanted to return to, two of my kids had this at the top of their list. We did not have a TV at our table, but they're visible from other tables, so you don't really need one to enjoy the clips. I think, though, the clips are better for adults than for kids because my kids have never heard of those old TV shows anyway.

The salmon I had for dinner there was amazingly good, and we had the best server ever there (Patty) who got DS a special meal when she noticed he didn't like the mac & cheese he was served.

We are not huge dessert eaters but those smores are probably one of my fav desserts in WDW. Worth the trip just for those.

We were there in January and had a TV at our table. The table was intended for 6, but actually sat 7. They stuck a high chair at the end for DS.

We ate there in December 2006 and it was a blast!! Our waiter was hysterical!! We all laughed more at that meal than during the whole trip - and we were there for 9 days!! However on our last visit in December 2007, we got a waiter that didn't really interact with us. He made a couple of comments, but nothing really funny. He didn't seem to want to be bothered or something. I was very disappointed as we could see the other "aunties" and "cousins" around us making jokes and totally interacting with the other tables. I had really bragged up this restaurant to our grown son, his wife and my mother who accompanied us on this trip. They thought I was nuts when the meal was done, as there wasn't anything funny about it at all, this time.

Anyway, the food is good and the atmosphere is really fun. But, you may or may not get a server that interacts with you.

hmmmm........last time we were there the tables we saw with TV's were the small 50's dinette style which had 4 chairs with one end open and one end against the wall/cabinet where the TV was located. These tables seemed a little shy for one family we saw that had two adults, two children and one infant (high chair on the open end)......

By the looks of this table it would be hard to fit more than 4 at this table. Like I said, I have not seen the larger tables you are referring too.

Yeah, last time we ate there we were at a table with six people and we had a line of sight to a TV that hung on the wall too.....we just noticed how a few tables actually had a TV right at the table....but for larger parties those little tables would not work.

If you look in the very top of the photo you can see one of the other TV's that sit higher on the wall.......it is hard to see but it is up there.

The food was good, but I don't know about entertaining. Our last server had a thick accent and didn't speak very clear english and was kind of forcing the interaction a little so she actually scared my dd 8, she was kind of barking at her and she didn't understand the words just this demanding tone. It wasn't a good time, but the food was good and the tables around us had a very good server and they were having a lot of fun. Everyone else stayed back at the hotel so it was just the two of us, we didn't get much interaction, so I don't know if it was because it was just us.
