Where should I make a PS for. I've been to Sci-fi before and liked it, but maybe we should try something new?

We went to 50s Prime Time in 2001 - DS does NOT want to return

We usually do both, but if I had to pick one I'd pick 50's. The food is much better and it's also fun. My DD (age 8) loves Sci-Fi though so we always at least go there for dessert. Have fun.

I've been to both and like them both but I prefer 50's Prime Time. Excellent Fried Chicken and Peanut Butter and Jelly Shakes (which may sound odd, but you will be surprised!)

PTC is good any time.
Sci-Fi is a good lunch place.
As a party of two, we always are seated in the back of a car. And it is cramped as far as table (counter type) space. I think from here on I want to wait for better seating.

The first time we ate there DH had a woman with long flowing hair sitting right in front of him.
I wish he had said something at that time. But not until we were leaving did he complain to me how unappetizing his food was with this full head of long thick hair hanging and swaying over his plate! :earseek:
I told him he should have said something to her too. I am sure she did not want to be swinging her hair over his food either. :sad2:

The table depth in the backseat of a car barely allows a plate on the table. I think the plate even overhangs slightly.
I don't know if the other car tables are any better.

We did both last week. My family enjoyed them both. I think the food was better at 50's. But it also helped that we had a great waiter who "picked" on us the whole meal. I had the fried chicken and it was yummy.
Sci-Fi is fun, the food is nothing special IMO, but I'm glad we did it. I just prefer 50's because of the decor and the food. If you really want to do both, eat lunch at one and then grab a snack at the other. We didn't eat dessert at either one, but the 50's has some yummy looking ones.

My vote is definitely for the 50's. This is a great place to dine. The food and the service are wonderful!!! This is a must dine for me on every trip.

Have tried Sci-Fi a few times, but have been pretty disappointed. Thought the food was just so-so.

I have been to both now. In my opinion Sci-Fi is a great place to experience once. I loved seeing what it was all about, but the food wasn't that great. I don't feel the need to return. I have been to Prime Time a few times now and I have always has good food and good service. It is fast becoming one of my favorites.

We like the Sci Fi for the kids...but next time if we have $$ we will do 50's PTC...just for the change.

If you are a party of 3, how would they accommodate you at Sci-fi? Not sure my kids would enjoy dining with others in the same 'car'

Some of their cars are "4 seaters". When we ate there in February we (familyof four) had two "hitchhikers" in our 6 seater. The trip this month we had a 4 seater so we had it all to ourself. We always let the kids sit in the front so that they can see better so there were no complaints.

We've been to both of them and definately like 50's over Sci-Fi. Not to say that Sci-Fi was all that bad but between the two, the prime time diner wins out.

the food at both are IMHO pretty average, not bad but nothing to rave about. we have enjoyed our meals ast both but after 2 trips in a row eating at Sci-Fi it now really doesnt interest us any more unless they change the clips. :rotfl2:

at 50's prime time we had a blast. our servers were so into their "act" both our sons had to wash their hands and telll"mom" what color the soap was, i got yelled at for having my hat on while seated at the dinner table a person next to us had to sing i am little teapot. it was so much fun. i would reccommend it highly especially if your group is into the interactive fun that this place is about. hope you get the waiter we had, forget his name but he was from morocco.

Although we liked the theme and atmosphere of the Sci-Fi, I only have two words for the food: DRIED UP! Did it once. Glad we did it. Won't torture myself again by going back.

50's prime time is loads of fun and the food is good as well. Down-home cookin' like your grandma makes.

We love 50's Prime Time. The fried chicken is really good and lots of it. I can't wait to go back in September.

We love Prime Time and it has always been on our "must do" list every trip.
Sci.Fi. is also very cool ... I suppose it depends a bit on how much interaction you want and if the car seating works for you. I know my DS fared well at SciFi even though we normally have to prevent drink spillage at least a dozen times during a meal! Cutting food for little ones also requires getting out of your seat (no biggie really). Also, the cars aren't quite as comfy and it is quite dim. All that said, it still is fun and definitely worth checking out. We just happen to love the theming and iteraction at Prime Time ... not to mention the wonderful "comfort food" menu.

We have been to both restaurants you listed, but I voted for Sci-Fi.

I don't really think one place serves better food over the other. In my opinion anyway. But I do prefer the atmosphere of Sci-Fi.
50's Prime Cafe is one of those restaurants that we wanted to try once. We did, but it's nothing so special that we'll be returning.

I could see us going back to Sci-Fi maybe just for appitizers and deserts. We did the lunch thing during our visit, and I think their hamburgers are way over priced for what you get. But I do love the atmosphere enough to return for some snacks.

Both have great themeing and okay food - so you can't go wrong with either.

However, I recommend 50's Primetime b/c their fried chicken was the best meal I had at Disney on our last trip!
