going to DW in Nov. group of 10. 5yo boy 7 yo girl 8 yo girl2 15 you boy 4 parents and a grandfather who acts 40. Would you pick 50's or mommas and why? Also we are on DDP and have previously done H&V, brown Derby and Sci Fi.
I know at s I go we could get a milkshake meal and dessert on DDP is that how 50's is?

I like both restaurants and would try and do both, if you are going multiple days to Hollywood Studios theme park. A lot of waiter antics and interaction at Prime Time 50's, and good comfort style food. Mama Melrose has some excellent choices too, but is more fine dining.

It is hard to say what someone else would like. 50's PT is American Food plus "antics", depending on your server you may get some laughs/entertainment.
Mama Melrose's is just a straight forward Italian meal. Personally, I would pick MM for food, 50's PT for milk shakes or fried chicken.

We like them both, however, 50's Prime Time is the only one that we go to on every single trip to Disney.
50's Prime Time - It's comfort food and it has always been good for us. Love the fried chicken dinner. People talk about "the antics". We have not experienced much of the antics. Perhaps the server is able to feel the customer out to decide how far they want to go. For us, the antics have been very mild.
Mama Melrose - We had a good meal there and would go there again, but our choice is 50's Prime Time.

We prefer Mama Melrose. I liked 50's PT but DH did not enjoy the antics so if anyone might not do well with that I'd definitely go with MM.

With your party makeup, I'd suggest 50's just because it's all about "how it used to be" and the older one would like it (and remember it) and the younger ones would be surprised to realize that's the way it was. For example, have the grandfather relate to the 15 year old how it was to watch only three TV channels and TV was free back then. No cell phones, no wifi, no laptaps, no internet. More of a family discussion around all the other stuff.

We had a great meal at MM last trip. I wasn't expecting much, but we all loved it! Plus, you can get the Fantasmic package at MM.

Never tried 50s PTC but we go to MM every trip. We have never had any issues there and the food is always great!

50's antics are fun, and the food is delicious. Cant go wrong with good ol' comfort food. I love the pot roast, and the chicken pot pie. Portions are enormous!! For example, the fried chicken meal has 4 pieces of chicken. Thats big enough to share if you ask me. :) And its quite tasty.

If your family might not be in the mood for antics, then perhaps MM is a better choice.

I like them both. And I know this is lazy, but if I'm doing Mama Melrose I try to be at that part of the park around the ADR time. If you are on the other side of the park, it is a hike! 50's Prime Time is nice and close to the main street, so easy to get to.

I am another that goes to 50s PTC every trip. I have also eaten at Mama Melrose's, and it is OK. If you want to take advantage of the F! dining package, I would do MM. It is nice to use a dining plan credit for that because you also get an appetizer with that, as opposed to a the regular TS credit. But I think you may not get a choice on the dessert end with the F! package.

Food is better at Mamas. Fun times at 50's.....either is a win!

One great and funny meal at 50s and one where the server wasn't into it so it was not fun. It's a toss up. Mamma Melrose's we love. No antics but the food is very good.
