50's Prime Time...how is it, really?

Pot Roast was to DIE FOR!!!! So sad we can't fit it in this trip. DD and I loved our meal here. Of course the pre-dinner drinks helped:thumbsup2

My sister, her DBF and I all had a great time here. Our sever was fun, asking what color the soap was when I went to wash my hands, but another a few tables over was amazing. She gave homework to her table and walked around singing "some day your food will come" The milk shakes were super tasty, and as DS had something from Dad's bar, I got one alone with my sprite for dinner. DS's boyfriend had a drink as well that come with the fun light up ice cube! I still have it in my Disney stuff!

It is my MUST DO. I have eaten there on every trip since it opened. The pot roast is the best. I've had a couple of dud servers, but most have been great. Plus a milkshake for my drink AND dessert!

Their smores dessert is to die for!! Mmmmmm!

It's hit or miss on the interactivity, depending on your server. Last time we were there, we were sitting at a table with two other tables very, very close so our server had us all interacting together with our "cousins." It was lots of fun. The most memorable experience was one evening when we were there for a late dinner and DH was made to sing "Yellow Submarine" for a table of Brits nearby. We LOVE this place.

we ate here in Oct 2005 and had a great time. We had a "cousin" for a themed waiter. He called my dad "pops" and me "princess". He kept calling my DS (who was turning 3 at the time) "skippy" and DS kept saying " no, my name is...." which had us all in stitches. At another table, the waitress had a boy, maybe 9 or 10 stand in the corner (I forget why) and we all said "shame, shame on you..." DS giggled like crazy !! In a world of eating out 3 meals a day, the food is "homey", fried chicken and pot roast very good, and the smore dessert is great !!(and messy) Enjoy !!

Me too!!!
and I'm not a shy person but it was really anouying!!
Our supposed Cousin Server could hardly speak English and I
could not understand what she was saying.
We were a party of 3 and were seated at a large nook with another
group who were loud and wanted us to play along with them when
all I wanted to do was eat my lunch and get out of there.
My food was good though but the atmosphere made it hard to
relax and enjoy my lunch. We were very happy to get out of
the Twilight Zone and won't be returning.

This is a really fun place, with yummy food! :thumbsup2 That being said, I'm going to steer you away from ordering the stuffed bell pepper. It was bland, and my server attempted to make me eat another bite of it.

I'm another one who didn't like it much. The food was okay, but it was a huge portion that I couldn't finish, so of course that got me scolded by Aunt Whomever. Plus it took a LONG TIME. That's valuable time I could be using on rides instead of being embarrassed by the server! It just wasn't my idea of a relaxing meal.

DH and I have dined at 50's Prime Time 4-5 times over the last 7 years or so...and we like it! The antics have varied from very in-your-face to more low key, depending on the server and the behavior of the tables around us. I like the food - it is food we don't cook at home, so it is a special treat - fried chicken:cloud9: , meatloaf:worship: , pot-roast:lovestruc:. A nice hearty meal with varying server "antics."

Food is mediocre, but the service was fantastic.

Were you actually seated at the same table? If so,. Or was it one of those situations when the tables are very :crowded: close to each other? We're going to be a party of 3 when we eat here and I'm curious about how your party was seated.

This has been our experience too. I think the servers feed a lot off of your attitude too. There have been a couple times we've been in there tired and dragging butt, not so much into playing and they seem to adjust. On the other hand we've gone in there in complete goober mode and had a blast too. It's one of the kids favorite places ever since they made their Dad wear a Little Mermaid bib a few years back and he was in trouble for his manners. Now the first place they request when planning is "the manners place". :rotfl:

For the food it's always been good and consistent IMO, it's the only place anywhere I'll eat fried chicken. The shakes are awesome too. If you wanted to try it out without a meal commitment you could always go for dessert.

The first time I went there the food was OK and ther einteraction with the staff was real good, had some laughs. when I went ther ein 2005 the food was more then horrible and there was no interaction at all, I will never go back there again.

We have eaten there many times and have never had a bad meal. The interaction varies depending on servers and what time of day you go. We tend to book almost every trip. It is worth trying. We don't care for Sci FI at all....tried it 2 times and it is not worth it.

I think a person has to realize if they do not want to be "bothered" or hounded by the wait staff, this isn't a place to eat. Part of the design of the restaurant is the atmosphere, and it is not for some. In some ways it is like an interactive show, so be ready to participate. I think younger kids enjoy it, especially if mom or dad gets picked on, I know my DS (age 5 & 1/2) would love it. This isn't a restaurant you necessary pick for the food, you pick it for the entire package, food & entertainment.

I'm thinking about trying it this November...we'll be on a 5night/6day trip & I'd love to try a new restaurant. Opinions please...

Thanks!

It's has good food & a fun place to eat at. It's a must stop for us on every trip. Try it I am sure you will like it. As as long as your willing to play along with the waiter & waitresses you will have a great time! It's Disney have fun!

we have an ADR there this Dec for Dinner...it will be our first time here, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed, hoping it will be fun:banana:

My family and I have had lunch there two times and on both occasions the interaction with our server was great, plus the food was was very good.

This is a MUST dine for me on every trip!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Have always had great food & service here!!!

I'm not big on interaction with the CMs myself, but I love watching the other tables. We've been at least 5 times and our food has always been good. Sometimes we've had no interaction from the CMs and sometimes we've had very snappy ones. Our boys are sometimes scared by them because it seems so authentic. It always reminds me of sitting in my grandma's kitchen! I just wish they would play a whole episode of something on that little tv instead of clips :lmao:
