I want to try this restaurant on my upcoming trip in November but I'm scared! Do they really yell at you if you put your elbows on the table and don't eat your vegetables? Haha.. I don't know what I will do because I hate vegetables! Is it all in good fun or do the waitresses harass you?? Help!! :)

It is all in good fun, they are good at gauging how much you want to play. I don't really enjoy the southern greens that come with the oh so wonderful fried chicken, so one time I tried to hide them under the chicken bones. Our "big brother Bob" asked me if I thought he was born yesterday and uncovered them ;)....... I didn't have to eat them.... just played along.

My DH will always be a charter member of Mom's clean plate club, they always offer to hang his plate on the wall, he "clean's it so well" :rotfl:

I agree with the PP - it's all in good fun. The servers haven't ever made us feel uncomfortable.

This is actually one of our favorite WDW dining experiences. The atmosphere is fun and so nostalgic, the food has always been good and the servers are so nice. We always have a good time here. Go and don't worry about the veggies! :goodvibes

I once met a bunch of DISers down there. The waitress asked about us and we told her we were all strangers that met online here on the DIS. She asked where we each were from and gave me a hard time about being the only southerner in a bunch of Yankees. We all round up ordering the fried chicken, but I was the only one who requested to sub another veggie for the greens. She let me do it, but gave me a hard time about a southerner being at a table full of Yankees and only the Yankees were eating the southern greens.:rotfl: She finally leaned over me and whispered very loudly, "don't worry about it sis, we southerners know what's really in those greens don't we, I'd order something else too. I'll just have to sneak your plate past mom".:rotfl:

My kids' favorite meal of the trip was 50's Prime Time! Our waiter wasn't really in character as much but he was still good. The server next to us was a HOOT!! One of the customers wanted another tea refill. So he brought him 4-5 glasses of tea and a park map with all the bathrooms circled. It was hysterical.

I don't think they will MAKE you eat your veggies! ;)

Just remember when you go to the washroom to wash your hands.. they will ask you what color the soap was :thumbsup2

Yes. They made my husband stand up and sing I'm a little teapot, for putting his elbows on the table. It was hysterical.

Gee, I wonder if I look like a grump at 50s Prime Time. I've never had any server's "antics". Once I even asked "How's Grandma doing with her chicken pot pie today?" hoping that would show a little interest. Nothing! However, the server's always been very friendly and polite.

We are going in just a few days and have already made our reservations for 50's PTC. My two oldest girls are already planning on what to do to "get in trouble." On our last visit, I actually got in trouble and had to clean the table since my wife and three girls all got up and left for the restroom without asking for permission. When they came back I had all of the dishes piled up in front of me.

It's a great time, you'll love it.

You will have fun dont worry they will not force you to eat veggies:lmao:. They dont really yell at you, they make it all fun. I was worried about that the first we went, they are more fun then demanding you do what they say. We enjoyed it so much we made another reservation the week we were there.
You have to go there the food is great and it's fun !

Go and enjoy. Its a lot of fun and the food IMO is great. Our DD doesnt care as much for the greens so she asks for double mash potatoes. They may give her a ribbing about it, but will serve what she wants.

As has been said, its all in good fun, we got told we would be peeing all day when we asked for a refill and DH got told off for not eating his greens:rotfl:
Try the S'mores they are gorgeous, in fact I have asked if you can get these over the counter to take away but no-one has replied yet:confused3

Oooooh, I am already planning on my fried chicken in January and was going to sub green beans for the greens - but double mashed potatoes...now THAT'S a "winner winner chicken dinner!!!!!" :woohoo:

My dd was a bit scared when we sat down and she saw the wait staff 'playing' with the other tables, so I just got up and told the waitress my dd was shy and didn't want to play. Problem solved. :) We had fun watching the others and my dd was fine as long as she wasn't directly involved.

We ate here when my younger sister was about 7 and she's 14 now. She still calls it "the place where they yelled at me to eat my crust." She doesn't want to make an ADR for our upcoming trip, but I'm slowly convincing her. :rotfl:

DH and I ate here ONCE. We HATED it. I know it's supposed to be part of the fun of eating there but we found it so annoying. We've never gone back since. My friend took her DS who was six at the time and she loved it. For her it was the equivalent of going to a dinner theater. I guess it's just a matter of preference. DH and I like to be left alone when we eat.

We made our reservation here in August, can't wait.
I have a feeling we will get scolded.. ;) :rotfl:
