We also want to try one of the retro diners while at WDW. Is this the best one? How did you like it? Is there another diner themed restaurant in any of the parks?

Thanks very much again!!
Chris

We enjoy 50's Prime time cafe, however, in my opinion, it really depends on how good your waiter is. If they are very upbeat, fun, and not overly busy, it can be a great experience. My DW and I try to break the rules, so we get in trouble. The kids really like that. We've been there before where the waiter was just like a "normal" waiter, and nothing memorable happened. The food has always been consistently good, but it's the waiter that makes the experience IMHO.

I don't know of any other that I would consider "diner themed" but maybe retro type - another one would be Scifi diner. Dh and I have eaten at both 50's Prime Time and SciFi. He likes Scifi...I'm not all that crazy about it. We both do like 50's Prime Time (we did eat here on our trip last month as well and we really enjoyed it). I think there are going to be different opinions...it depends on different tastes.

My DW, DD and I had lunch at 50's Prime Time last week and found it to be very good "comfort" food and theming. I had the meat loaf and really enjoyed it. It is served with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was ALMOST as good as my Mom's. :)

I do not know of any other diner themed restaurants at WDW.

We ate there in Feb. and had a blast. We enjoyed it so much DW requested that we eat there for Thanksgiving. We are having dinner with Mom.:donald:

I love 50's but nobody else in my family does. In Jan, we took my best friend and her husband and they both agreed it was their favorite place to eat, even though we had also taken them to several signatures.

In the 4 times we have eaten at 50's, we have never had a fun CM wait on us.

We just ate at 50's Primetime last week. I had the fried chicken, DH had the grilled chicken sandwich and the kids had chicken nuggets,.

Dads Brownie sundae for dessert.

We all loved it. Our waiter was "on" my son pretty bad. It was funny. Kept calling him skippy.

We loved it for the atmosphere! Cousin Mikey was the BOMB!! Perfect service, perfect act and he even gave my son a birthday cupcake, card and had the entire section to him, even though he knew he wouldn't be two til tomorrow.

I had the steak and was very disappointed. I'd go again, but next time I'd just order a sandwich. The food isn't the important thing to me there, it's all about the atmosphere. For us it was fantastic!

I enjoyed it but the person I went with was kind of a hothead when it came to being teased ... just a word of caution in case you are going with anyone like that. There wasn't much I wanted to eat on the menu but I had a really good s'more dessert.

It's soooo good and lots of fun! We really like it. I'm planning one enjoying the vanilla coke, the potroast and dad's brownie sundae. OH, I can't wait...

I have been three times. Each time the food and service has gotten worse. Its to the point where we probably won't try 50's prime time for awhile. Same goes for Mama Melrose.

We've been 4 times. I've gotten the pot roast 3 times and was sorry I didn't order it the 4th time. We've never had a real zany server, but our service has always been pleasant and prompt. A word of warning: I've heard a lot of people say that the root vegetable hash is not so good and they recommend changing it our for something else, like mashed pots or string beans. We've had the S'mores and brownie sundae for dessert and enjoyed them. Oh, and you can order a shake for your drink if you're on the DDP (or at least you could in Feb.).

My family and I have had lunch there on two times and each time our servers were very much into their character. Besides that the 1st time I had the Stacked Sandwich and the 2nd time I had the Traditional Meatloaf. While both items were very good my favorite item was the Traditional Meatloaf.

We have been dining at 50's Primetime for years and always enjoyed it. We ate there a couple of weeks ago for lunch and enjoyed it as always.

In the past we loved 50s Primetime and it was a must do every trip. The last couple of times we've been there, we didn't have great service or servers and the food was not very good. We skipped the Primetime the last 2 trips to WDW and probably will not go back for a while. We'll be at WDW next week and didn't make ADRs and don't plan to make ADRs there for our trip in May 09.

We ate there on September 22 and had a blast. We had a 6:50 reservation and arrived about 15 minutes early. I think we only waited in the lounge for maybe 10 minutes, enough time to get a electric lemonade. I can't remember our servers name but she was very good, very into character. Also, some of the other waiters would interact with us, even though they were waiting on the table next to us. We had great food, we had the steak, fried chicken, and the tuna noodle thing. For deserts we had hot fudge sunday's and the big thing that has a brownie, ice cream, caramel pop corn, and m&m's on it. Everything was great.

We were there in September. Food was pretty good. We all had milkshakes. I had pot roast, which was so tender. I was so full from the milkshake, but ordered smores for dessert anyway. It was just so-so (cheap chocolate - tasted like a no-name brand). DS10 ordered the brownie sundae and that was really good (and huge). Some of the other meals at our table were the fried chicken and meatloaf, all declared good.

Our waiter played with us a little, but not too much, think he was busy. Some of the servers were really into it.

All in all, pretty good, would go again, but next time we'll try Sci fi for the different experience.

Have ate here 3 times and my dbf and I are taking his parents on Nov 28th!!
One time that we were scheduled to eat here I was feeling sick and our waiter took notice and gave me a milkshake and soup on the house and let us enjoy the atmosphere without bothering us. The other 2 times our waiter got into it! We had a blast and can't wait to go back its my dbf dad's birthday that day and we are hoping it will be fun!

Oh and even if you end up with a quiet waiter there is bound to be one or lots around you that are not and that you can enjoy their personalities!
