50's Prime Time Cafe or Sci-Fi Dine In Theater???

My kids love them both for the atmosphere but I prefer the food at 50's Prime time much better.

We like them both!!! We usually go to the Sci-Fi for lunch and the 50s Prime Time for dinner.

We love the atmosphere of the Sci-Fi, and it makes a nice break, especially on a hot day. I don't think the food is wonderful, but they do a perfectly fine job with the basic hamburger and fries, etc. And I DO think they make a delicious chocolate milk shake!! We really enjoy the old movie trailers as well.

The Prime Time seems more like a dinner place to us, because it reminds me of the home cooking I had as a child. We go for dinner and get things like fried chicken, so it's a heavier meal. The setting is always fun - we usually go a little early so we can sit in the lounge and watch the TVs there. We have had all sorts of different servers - some very "into" their roles and others just good wait staff. It's always fun, though, because even if your server is quiet you'll be able to see into another room. Last month my DD13 and I were there for dinner, and the man at the next table had to put his nose in the corner because he wouldn't keep his elbows off the table!! Fun!

If I had to choose and it was lunch, I'd say Sci Fi. If it's for dinner, Prime Time. But you won't go wrong with either of them!!!

My vote is for the Sci-Fi.

We really enjoy the atmosphere and the food. My daughter orders the ribs. Husband orders the Reuben sandwich. Picky 9 year old son orders a hot dog or burger. I ordered the BLT soup and a chicken caesar salad. Have also ordered the Flat Iron Steak sandwich, onion rings, chili and all the desserts. Everything was always good and fresh.

The atmosphere is like no other restaurant at WDW. The kids really like sitting in the cars and watching the old film clips.

We've eaten at the Sci-Fi three times and are heading back during our June, 2007 trip!

We've never eaten at the Prime Time Cafe. I cook "home cooking" food all the time so I want something different.

Have a great trip and eat lots of good food! Lisa

The Sci Fi is mine and my DH's favorite "fun" place to eat at in WDW. Love the atmosphere there.

The Sci Fi is always a must do lunch for us! I am not crazy about 50's and we have been there for lunch and dinner.

50's Primetime is our pick. We've done both and recommend both but the diner has better waitstaff and better food. If Mom hears it's your birthday, she'll come out sometimes to holler to everyone to be quiet so that she can give her family a greeting. It's fun.
Sci-fi is fun to be at but the food isn't that great. The waitstaff there isn't as friendly either.
They are both fun to do though.

We enjoy both and agree the food is better at 50's. Just don't try to hide your green beans under the potatoes, you will get yelled at!!!!!!!!!

Or make a mess with your drink or food; you'll get a bib! :lmao:

Don't lie and say you washed your hands in the restroom, they'll quiz you to see if you are lying!

I warned my younger DD about the elbows and she was in a panic but it worked out fine.

I know that Mom, Dad, Uncle, Aunt, Cousin or whatever your server is supposed to be is all part of the act but I just want to enjoy my meal. I've heard they take it a little too far sometimes.

They have never done that with us. So far they can sense who to fool around with and who not to fool around with.

Like I said above, I hid my green beans and my server announced to the entire resteraunt what I had done. We took it as fun but I can see some people seeing it as annoying. Its part of the show so if you want a quiet meal, go to Sci-Fi.

Oops, my elbows are on my desk.

I've been to both several times and prefer Sci Fi. I like Prime Time's food and theming, but I'm just not into the "stand up and sing twinkle, twinkle little star in a restaurant full of people" thing, but some people love it. I am just way too shy. ;)

both!

we usually have early lunch at sci-fi (either burgers & fries, or something light, like an appetizer and dessert) and then early dinner at 50s (pot roast for DH, salmon for me)

we love both places for different reasons - so, both! :yay:

I like both as well! However, I do think the Sci-Fi is more of a "lunch" restaurant. It is more sandwiches and shakes, while the Prime Time is more "dinner" oriented meals such as pot roast and fried chicken. If I was choosing one I would have to go with Prime Time! But remember...you have to have a good sense of humor for some of the servers at the prime time! They do get carried away and if you dont want to be picked on then I would skip this restaurant!

We prefer Sci~fi;) We have always eaten at Sci~fi and the last trip we decided to try 50's and none of us liked it:( We will for sure be going back to Sci~fi this up~coming trip!

Ate at both, I preferred the food, experience at sci-fi better. The experience at 50's is far too dependent upon the quality of your server, ours was lackluster, but a different server near us seemed sensational. So its basically luck of the draw there. Now the atmospheres were both really cool settings.
Here is a pic of our table at 50's Prime Time in feb...

I like both, but 50's is always a must do. The burgers fires and onion rings are quite good at SCI-Fi and a really neat atmosphere though pretty dark.
