50's or Sci-Fi?

We have done both multiple times. My preference, and I think my children's preference, is Sci-Fi. It's one of the most relaxing meals our family has at Disney because it's actually really quiet in there and everyone sits and watches the old B-movie clips. But, we prefer it more for the atmosphere than the food. We'd given up on Prime Time for a few years because for some reason there always seemed to be an hour wait for our table, even with ADR's for a 5:30pm dinner. Having said that, we couldn't get into Sci-Fi for lunch this coming trip, so we have a ressie for a group of 11 at Prime Time for lunch at 11am. I would recommend doing either for lunch around 11/11:30am to avoid a long wait for a table. Both restaurants are great in terms of theming. But my preference is still Sci-Fi.

atmosphere at sci fi makes it for us. just love it so much. I don't find the food stellar at either, both are decent unhealthy food options :) neither gourmet.

If you have kids with you - I think they'll appreciate the atmosphere at Sci Fi better.

Sci Fi is a regular ADR for us! Every time. We love everything about it. 50's was good too and the but the kids didn't enjoy the food selection as much.

We've also gone to Sci Fi just for dessert. You could always try 50's for lunch and make a later ADR for dessert at Sci Fi.

I hate the seating at Sci-Fi but love the atmosphere. There are a few tables in the back that you can request, and we've done that, but it's at the kitchen so it's brighter and busier there. We love 50's PT and usually eat there every trip.

We visited Sci-Fi last spring for the first time in many years. The burger I had there was probably the best burger I've had at WDW, the fries & milkshake were also delicious. The Primetime food never really impressed us and the schtick wore think quickly with us. :)

I can only comment on 50's since I have not done Sci-Fi since i don't want to sit away from being able to have a conversation with people at my table. i love 50's though but its not a great deal on the DxDDP so I am thinking of skipping it this year.

50's for us. It is pretty much a "must do" as it represents one of those "only at WDW" experiences. Just being there transports us to our Happy Place. And the fried chicken is really good (and plentiful). Sci-Fi is OK, but I don't care for the seating, and the movie clips get old and repetitive pretty quickly. We prefer the human entertainment to the celluloid entertainment.

SciFi is a fave of ours for the food and very unique theme. Love it! Its the coolest and quietest restaurant in disney! Really, just sit there and observe and you'll notice how quiet it is. Its beautiful! Now for the food. We've always enjoyed our meals here. We've tried and loved the wings, spinach dip, cheeseburgers/fries, ribs, onion rings, and shakes. OMG the shakes are to die for! Oreo is my fave.

50's can be fun if you get a good server. Last time our server didnt play the part at all, so it was just like a regular restaurant to us. The food is good but honestly its way too heavy.

Prime Time. The food at Sci Fi has become disgusting over the years. The last meal we had there (last August), we were served raw chicken and when the manager saw it his apology included something about the chicken coming in big frozen bags. I can live without know that I'm paying $25 for frozen mass produced chicken tenders. That said, the ambience is awesome there, the food is just lower quality now. We've only had good experiences at Prime Time.

We much prefer 50's! We've tried Sci-Fi-Fi and both times the food was terrible. We like 50's for the atmosphere and the cheeky wait staff. We also think they do pot roast really well...and their milk shakes! Yum!! Glad you booked both. Let us know which one you preferred.

For my family SCI-FI hands down would win... Its something about eating in the car, and watching old "B" rated movies go by...It so fun... I think that the food is above middle of the road, but for us its a burger and fries with awesome milk shakes kinda joint....More than likely if we are having lunch this is the way we go....Now they do offer more options and we have tried them and all have been good. So here are some of my families go to , Appetizers - Fried Dill pickles are a must have, Spinach and Artichoke dip is a close second. Entrée - Burgers -DH is a classic burger guy and the chicken pasta, DD likes the chicken pasta but its a pretty good portion some she shares in with my DGS (2) and it was more than enough for the both of them, SIL - Ribs, For me the Ruben or turkey sandwich.. Dessert - normally we get milk shakes and there's no room for dessert.

Sci-fi for us, I love the seating and the atmosphere.
We're not big foodies so burgers and fries are fine by us.

We have enjoyed 50's but find it very dependent upon the interaction of the server. Food isn't so much to our taste either.

definitely sci-fi! maybe because it's my family's tradition, but the atmosphere is so unique that I haven't gotten tired after almost 10 visits. the food's great, especially the fried pickles!!!

We like both for many of the reasons already mentioned here by others. If I had to choose I would go with Sci-fi and their new menu. There were several new items we really liked. No matter what you choose I think you will enjoy. Have fun!

My day has been made by finding out they have fried pickles at Sci-Fi!
