Which restaurant should my family do?? 50's Prime Time or Sci - Fi.

We have eaten at Sci Fi before but not with our youngest who will be 4 at the time of our trip. I'm afraid that he might get scared inside the restaurant. :scared1:

We have never eaten at 50's Prime Time. My family loves country cooking but my husband does not like the idea of someone "telling" him he has to finish his veggies.

Any suggestions??

we're gonna try sci-fi this time around. Have never been to either.

My vote would have to be 50's Prime Time Cafe. The atmosphere at Sci-Fi is really cool, but I think the food is better at Prime Time. I was a little worried when we took my step-father to Prime Time. He has a good sense of humor, but doesn't like to be bossed around, but he actually had a good time.

50s prime time - it's brightly lit, kitschy, has those B&W TVs playing - and yes, the food is better!

We ate at PT 50s last week. We had Aunt Donna and she was wonderful. Just the right amount of humor and encouragement of good table manners, without being pushy - just fun. If you don't really want to eat all your veggies, you won't have to . Of course, you'll get no dessert! :lmao: My boys, 11,13 and 18 thought it was great. My 18 y.o. is kinda shy, not an extrovert. He worked really hard not to put his elbows on the table during dinner, with the help of Aunt Donna's reminders. However, at the end of the meal, Aunt Donna caught him for the third time. This time he politley responded that he didn't really care as his dinner was now over (don't you love teenagers). Aunt Donna thought he was so funny that she had him stand up and hold a napkin against the door jamb.... with his nose, as she announced to everyone that this boy had been caught with his elbows on the table. He thought it was a hoot and tried not to laugh for fear of letting the napkin drop! We all had a great time. Everyone else around us seemed to as well.

We all enjoyed our meals as well. Good time all around. Recommended.

I'd vote for 50's although both are pretty cool places for different reasons. :thumbsup2

We love them both but if we had to choose only 1 it would be 50's Prime Time. The food is yummy and if you get the right waiter/waitress it's a lot of fun!

We've eaten at both frequently. Atmosphere at Sci Fi is a very unique experience but the food at 50's is so much better.

We've always went to 50's with people who are not interested in joining in on the fun and the CM's have pretty much left them alone. We've never had a very enthusiastic CM there anyway.

During our last trip I literally had to TALK my family into eating at 50's Prime Time ... IT ENDED UP BEING THE BEST MEAL OF THE TRIP FOR ALL OF US (Me, DH, DD18, DD16, DD12 and DD10)!! The kids had a ball hiding the stuffed bear from the "moms and dads". Our "mom" even tried to make my DH eat his veggies ... he was all ready to eat them, but she didn't make him after all. Needless to say we will be returning this trip, but we will also be dining at Sci-Fi since we'll be in WDW for 10 nights with FREE dining!

So, I think IMO your best choice would be 50's Prime time ... but you won't be disappointed with either one
!! :thumbsup2

We go to both places every time we visit the World, but I would say you've got to try 50's PT especially since you have never been there before! While the "Aunt's and Uncle's" like to mess with you, they are not going to push you to do something you don't want. I think your family will end up having a great time and making it a staple of your future trips!!

At 50's PT, you could always ask for a less "playful" server, but that's a big part of the fun, isn't it? I'm looking forward to our ADR there, but I'll make sure to order veggies I LIKE and know I will finish!

We went to Sci Fi last time -- just walked in late for milkshakes, got to check out the cool atomosphere, and it was way past the dinner rush (I think about an hour or less before they closed). They have awesome "grown-up" milkshakes, with Kahlua and Bailey's...wowee....:goodvibes

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! :thumbsup2

I think that we might be leaning a little toward 50's Prime Time Cafe after reading that the food there is great....:cool1:

Thanks again everyone!!!:worship:

50's Prime Time ! ! !:thumbsup2

the food is SOOOOOO much better here than sci-fi and the service is awsome and lively and funny.

GET THE FRIED CHICKEN! I would never order fried chicken at another table service restaurant but at 50's it is to die for!
Second runner up is the pot roast--savory and oh-so-yummy!
For dessert, we LOVE the s'mores platter!

50's Prime Time the best place my family was there the 1st week in April and the street cleaners were in there during a break and my DD and myself laughed so hard it was great:dance3: :dance3: :tigger:

DW & I loved the food at 50s Prime Time. We thought it was one of our best meals in Disney. The meatloaf is wonderful. We have never eaten at Sci Fi. Ive heard mixed reviews about it, more negative than positive, so if I were in your party I would encourage the known excellent over the unknown.
