The great debate has begun. Quick rundown of the situation.....my husband is Disney-ed out :confused3 and will not be coming with us this September therefore this Disney trip is completely funded by "found" money. We will for sure have enough for the trip but do I spend $500 extra for a Royal Room at POR where we have never stayed (I have 2 girls and they will love it and so will I!) or do I use that $500 for drinks, etc. and stay at POP? I have budgeted $1500 for gas and incidentals for the way down, the way home, and while we are there and we have the regular Dining Plan via the promotion. So.....what would YOU do? Spend the $500 on a special room where you haven't stayed or stay at POP and use that for something else? Luckily I have about 30 days to figure it out because POP rooms aren't filled yet for the promotion and we already have our reservation for the Royal Room if we do decide to go that route.

I have no problems with POP whatsoever, but if given the choice, I would do the Moderate. The amenities and atmosphere upgrades are definitely worth the extra $$ IMO.

I would stay at Por, in a regular room to save some $. I love POR. And with 2 girls having the extra room and sink will be nice. And it's just a beautiful resort.

I agree with PP, I would do POR in a regular room and use whatever you save for food.

Have fun!

Answering through grandkids eyes, they would choose POP with the extra spending money! I do love the idea of staying in a regular room at POR with less spending money but not my grandkids. We have stayed at several value/moderates with them and everytime we go back, they always want to stay at POP. And I will have to agree, after our other stays, I have regretted not going back to POP soooooo POP is our Disney home when we are with the grandkids.

Is POR really different from POFQ? We did stay there this past year and I loved it, but my girls were split about it. The older loved the atmosphere of FQ but the younger didn't feel like we were "at Disney". Seriously thinking we should have had a 3rd girl just for a tie-breaker :rotfl:

The mansion section does have a southern girly, Gone with the Wind look. I have only stayed at FQ but we are booked in a Royal room this September. I do think the regular manion rooms, based on Pictures, also look really good. more girly than FQ.. I would definately request maNSIONS as Bayou section is more boyish, if you dont do Royal ( only in Mansions).

How old are the Girls? have them look at Videos, Pictures and get their Input. If they are slide Lovers, Pop doesnt have one. THough the plastic figures, may give it a Disney feel..

500 is alot of spending Money, especially if you let the Girls shop with that.. 2 new princess Dresses each maybe convince them to stay value!

Don't forget that with POP you're at a value which means you'll have the QSDP, not the regular plan which includes a TS credit per day. You could upgrade dining plans, which would cut into your $500 savings. You could also pay OOP for any table service meals, but depending upon what you've booked, it could REALLY cut into your $500 budget (character meals, buffets can run $40 pp).

I would vote for the moderate, but skip the Royal Room to save the money. We just stayed in a royal room last week, and while it is nice, it loses its novelty after a short while. JMO, and I have girls as well:)

This was what I was thinking. The mods have a different dining plan as mentioned. We stayed in a royal riverfront in Dec. I think it added something than just the Royal Room. It was a splurge! But our view was this:

ETA: OMG my 1100th post! Time flies! :)

I'll echo what others have already said. POR (or POFQ) but a regular room not a Royal to save some $$! Best of both worlds, a Mod & extra spending $.

Full disclosure, I'm not a fan of POP despite trying twice ;)
