We knew it was coming, but somehow seeing an official release.... Well. 'Nuff said. Check it out yourself.
Sad, sad article.
Sad, sad article.

"I have watched with increasing concern and consternation as the artists of the studio were ever increasingly left out of the creative process to the point where their contribution was reduced to little more than numbers on a ledger."
Disney executives say they aren't cutting back on quality, just fat.
The studio's more recent Emperor's New Groove was a box-office disappointment
The economics of the animation industry no longer support the kind of salaries Disney paid to lure top talent in the 1990s when the company engaged in a bidding war with DreamWorks and other studios, Schumacher said.
By the way, I liked Emporer and thought it better than Prince of Egypt and El Dorado. Much better. Significantly better. Head & Tails above better.
YES!! Absolutely!! Where once stood a Disney defender, now stands a Disney moderate. Rose-colored-glasses off and eyes wide opened!I am not uncritical (used to be but DVC can attest that I have moved towards the middle).
I'm right with you Dis. I'd prefer that they strive for greatness rather than quantity. But, I think you missed AV's point. I think he's saying we're not likely to see ANYTHING worthwhile come out of Disney because NOTHING is in the pipeline. And now they are losing the talent to put anything into that pipeline. Save for the rampant sequel-itis that seems to have infected their philosophy lately, Disney animation, as we knew it, is dead!!Actually, it does not bother me that there is not a new animated feature every year. Where is it written that there must be one. I would rather wait for something good then for something like Pokemon or RugRats or El Dorado.

Only time will tell. Remember Fantasia (the original was a bust & panned by critics) when first released. I am welling to wait to see the results before judging. Some have already judged. Each to their own.
